Hot Rods Can someone give me a year / make on this ?

Got some pics from a family friend who got a line on this car . What is it ? Dad and I are Ford guys, but we aren't sure on this.
I appreciate your help.

 

I would say 1935 (or so) Dodge.

 

I think you will find that it is a relative of the one. It would make an interesting tail dragger with the sidemounts.

The black one is a 36 Dodge rumble seat coupe. I'd think the one in your photos is a relative and if not Dodge probably Mopar about the same year.

That front fender that's cut out for a side mount spare is probably pretty desirable to some restorer. I sure wouldn't patch over the hole if I didn't plan on using it.

 

Yes....definitely a 1936 Dodge Brothers D2 coupe. As stated above....if you do not go for the very rare dual sidemount spare tires and hardware, that stuff is very desireable, so please do not fill in those holes in the fenders. There are quite a few guys who would trade you for some non-sidemount spare fenders. If you hot rod the car, you will have to widen those fender holes for modern wheels/tires. That would be sad.

Some,but not all of em.

 

All but one of those cars had the fenders removed to clear those big tires. The one that had the fenders on was jacked up like a 4X4 to clear them
The lights under the fender lip is weird.

 

Mine don't.

 

There were a few in the 60's that ran the lights under the fenders like that.

 

I'd run the wheels with an inch wider rim, rock the spares, and I agree as stated above, tail drag it with skirts. Especially with skirts.

Well, that's debatable. if by 'big' tires, one means anything wider or taller, or both, than stock....then both your examples have "wider wheels and big(ger) tires"

If wider and/or taller than original equipment is not the standard by which they are judged, at what dimensions do tires and wheels become "wider and big"??

you'll notice I used the word wide,not taller,not bigger,but wide,and the wheels on the two pictures I posted are at the very widest,5".

 

you missed the point.....or choose to ignore it. wide is a relative term. they are wider than the original wheels of both the cars shown.........so, by comparison....wide. just not as wide as some of the other examples shown.

The deuce sedan has wheels that are a WHOPPING 1/2" wider than the stock 18s it came with. Pretty crazy.

The sedan ran gas coupe/sedan at least once @ Half Moon Bay when I was a kid, it was jacked up for more then tire clearance. I remember because I asked my dad about the lights and he said that gassers had to have lights.
