    That 55 is perfect!
Imagine that, a hot rod with hubcaps.

Here's my uncle's wagon. '56 210 wagon. Still working on the stance. Needs some 2 inch drop spindles up front to make it sit right.

  5. Very nice looking wagon, to bad your going to ruin the look by putting drop spindles on it, these car were made to set at stock height or up in the air away's, If you want lowered just go buy a new car at the dealership. So many cars are ruined by slamming them on the ground, it's not a custom, it's just a nice looking ride the way it is. Sorry but I hate slammed car unless they are customs. Just my 2 cents.

  6. Yeah right, because everything we do here is based on how they came from the factory. This is a hotrod site, not a restoration site. Stock sucks! I never said it was going to lay frame. I said it needed a bit of a rake.

  7. To my eye, only a few "full on" kustoms can pull off the motorboat stance. Hotrods need a rake to make them look right. Not too long ago, I saw a straight black '57 with the front bumper almost scraping the pavement, and the ass end jacked up. Not a look that I normally go for, but this thing looked like it was going to steal your lunch money and give you a wedgie. Just the right stance for the right car.

  8. I just don't like drop spindles, we would get the rake that you are talking about by doing 14" tires and wheels in front and 15" tires and wheels in the rear, we called it Big and Little's, that's how we did it over the years that I have been Hot rodding. Sorry if I spoke out of turn.

  10. My '55 isn't '60's period correct, but was inspired by that era:

Looks good no matter the shoes! I've been looking for the old-school looking Firestones like in the top pic and can't seem to find 'em. Are they Radials?

It's one of those cars that draws you in with the paintjob and stance, and holds you there when you notice the details. "Packard tail lights?' "Peaked decklid?" And I like what they did with the grille, I'm gonna keep it in mind when I give mine a facelift.

My daily driver '57 wagon. After this picture I beefed up the leaf springs and now it sits about 1- 1.5" taller in the rear.

Yes they are radials, but too bad that they are so old, that soon I have to replace them with some other new tires.

  23. I have that same roof rack in my shed. A bit rusty but all there. We took it off of my friend's 56 4 door wagon back in 1980. Funny, same model and year.

  24. Don't toss out that rack. They are supposed to bring stupid money from the resto-weenie crowd.

  25. Well, if it's been hanging on the wall since 1980, the only place it will go is ..."SOLD"

018.JPG This is a new build. My first car was a 56 post paid 180.00 for it,took a year to get it running 283 3 speed on the floor black tuck and roll and new chrome wheels from western auto. Had it running two weeks blew the rearend taking my girlfriend home had to leave it on the side of the road came back to find it stripped and vandalized. No money no insurance so had to sell what was left. Would do anything to find it. So this is what that car could have been, well at least in my dreams at the time LOL.
