This falls under "The Wrong Way"- I covered everything with plastic sheeting, and ended up not making ( cough) too much (cough) of a (cough) mess. Oh, man, where'd everybody go?

  3. Let's not forget that the eyes are also an entry point for the very fumes you are attempting to
minimize with your respirator. Always use goggles if you have poor ventilation as above!
(Yes, I know they are a pita to keep clear and clean, but the consequences are worse...)

I actually have a huge vent fan on the ceiling of my garage that draws the overspray , up and out.

I personally painted mine in the garage, but back 20 years ago I painted a couple of cars in my back yard in the open air on nice calm day and they came out good. I also highly suggest using a respirator and mask and suit. I personally like doing two stage paint because it can be easily color sanded to remove blems,

    Belair,
Nice job on your truck looks real good.

  9. Great thread, I have painted 2 complete cars in the drive way (color change, jambs etc...) Crush stone driveway, I wet it down the night before and sprayed in the morning when it was cooler and fewer bugs to f things up. I put the single stage paint on and color sanded and buffed, they both looked great.

I got this huge rusty vise for free. I shot it in this black metal flake with gold copper and aluminum to see if I think it would look good on a car .

    Painted on the patio.

Proving once again that there is always a way to get the job done if you want it bad enough.

  21. The Kegorator looks like it turned out REAL nice. Good job! Bruce.

  22. Belair , she looks like she turned out real nice.I too have painted a few out side before I got my shop. P.S. she really looked nice when all the salt was washed off. I drove that 58 buick in any weather when I was younger.Bruce. img702.jpg

  24. This spare bed room my wife and I are now using to season ( dry) freshly painted parts of her roadster..
They're safe here, won't get bumped or scratched, and gives room to move around out in the garage.
No.... Her roadster won't fit in here. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1462795784.435257.jpg

More parts to follow soon as work progresses.

^^^ I first read "toaster" instead of "roadster. Couldn't figure out how THAT was going to work. The dash looks amazing.

  27. Kind of an odd color combination she picked for her car. It's not traditional, it's not the latest trend or fad, just something she likes.
I guess she'll be driving a real one of one when it's done.
Me? My color preference? It doesn't matter...........It's her car.

  28. Bruce.........That big Buick looks amazing. You must have been a popular guy when everyone looked in your direction while someone else yelled out "ROAD TRIP".

  29. 2MANYPROJECTS, the funny thing with the 56 buick wagon is I had a sticker made from the movie back to the future that said on the back window. When this baby hits 88 M.P.H. you are going to see some serious stuff{I had him put stuff on the sign not the word shit like in the movie. I didn't want any problems from any little old ladies or Johnny law}people would come flying up to read it while I was driving it down the road. A couple times I thought I was going to get rear ended by them. LOL. Bruce. 1956 buick station wagon 010.jpg
