Remember, Ward backed off with only a couple laps to go, cord all the way around, letting Rathmann win.

1969 Darl Harrison MN SF 68or69 Konsk jj.jpg IMCA Champ Darl Harrison's car had a CAE nose on it for sure, but other features of the car aren't the same as my Dad's 1965 CAE car. Darl's Century Die car #44 may have been a year or 2 newer, may explain the differences. No other IMCA Champ drove a CAE car. Owner may have made his own roll bars to save $ but radius rod mounts are different, too.

Thanks. It's just a hobby for me, in the same manner as those who are civil war buffs or like old trains, old airplanes etc.

No I don't, So Cal or Az. would be as close as I could come. Don't think they were venturing too far from there in 58.

Didn't Roger McCluskey have a hand in building the original Fike? Or am I having an out of brains experience?

While CAE "only" made about 400 cars I wonder how many more were built from his mail order blueprints or just plain copied from other cars.I know in our area[ND,SD and MN]there were many"CAE" cars that were never within a 1000 miles of California!LOL

Can't say I've ever heard that McCluskey had anything to do with the Fike car, but it could be. Though you may be thinking of the ECCA car which he and Hank Arnold built and McCluskey drove until 1960 when he went back east to drive for Elmer George.

The blue #60 car owned by Bob Perkins and driven by Ron Perkins was built by Chuck Weyant. It was lighter weight, Chuck used smaller tubing than the plans called for.
