Progress update, Mike B. has completed the patch panels on the cowl bottoms and rear quarters and is resuming work on the floor pans. Also a better view of Jim's great work with the fire wall. 20151204_162706.jpg 20151204_153233.jpg 20151207_173406.jpg 20151204_153252.jpg body fab (58).jpg 20151204_162409.jpg

Wondering whose frame rails you used? They look to be flat on the top, is that correct? Looks great! Thanks

  5. We used ASC rails and JW rod garage boxing plates. The rails are just like stock 32' but I narrowed the frame 3/4" on each side to fit the model A body better. Thanks, Jim

I didn't make these but I will be doing something very close. They have a cool look and fit over the frame nice. I was told they are a old truck header. But I can't find a name or a pic to confirm

  9. The floors and firewall are bitchin! Very nice! She's looking real good, real good!

  10. Hey Bill, Mike just picked up a very similar set of headers. Best we can tell they were made by Hedman and his are designed to fit a 55-57 tbird. They are all gas welded and very high quality for the era.

The coupe got a little taken off the top this past week, 4 1/2 inches. The Barillaros were in a "whackin" mood this week, Jim did my coupe and Mike hit the 51 Merc in the background for 3". 5.jpg

  12. ^^^^^Looking great^^^^.

  13. Did a 4 1/2" chop and lowered the back window opening so it only lost about 3". Just need to finish the windshield frame.

  14. You guys do some awesome work. Can't wait for future updates and to see this car completed. I know it's gonna' be great.

  15. Thanks Man! This car is a great project and Gary is sparing no expense to keep the quality up. It may take a little while do get it done but I think it will be worth the wait when he drives it the first time!

    Rethink the Teapot carbs.
There are no problems with them that weren't created by some rebuilder that had no idea what he was doing
Set up correctly, they are great and work very well

DSCF6936.JPG DSCF6942.JPG Work on the coupe has resumed, Mike B. fabricated a new one piece hood top, we thought a single row of louvers down the center would be a good detail, and probably gonna add a cowl vent. I think I will run the car with a hood top only, keep the Y block on display! View attachment 3259458 View attachment 3259459

Update on the Y Brock Coupe progress, it has been brought from Barillaro's to my place for brake lines ,seat fitting ,pull the engine and transmission for rebuild. Then its back to Mike's home paint booth for prep and paint. Time and budget constraints mean I will probably be driving the black coupe for a while longer. 2016-10-08 15.08.50.jpg 2016-10-08 15.09.23.jpg 2016-10-08 15.07.22.jpg 2016-10-08 15.06.06.jpg 2016-10-08 15.04.40.jpg

You may have read my recent post that I am now retired and have also been able to resume progress on my 30 A coupe which has been christened the "Y BROCK Coupe" for obvious reasons.
Last week the engine was fired for the first time and the cam broken in, everything went well and it sounded great. The 292 was bored 60 over which puts it at about 301 ci. The block and head machine work was done by B&R Machine, Mike Barillaro assembled the short block, B&R installed the larger valves and I rebuilt the rocker arm assemblies. Pistons, cam, lifter, and bearings, were purchased from Mummerts. The Barillaros performed the final adjustments and first firing. It lit off the first try and made an awesome rumble through those open Gear Drive headers!
The last bit of body panel welding and massaging is now being done and soon body smoothing, priming, and blocking will begin. I had originally intended to be doing more of the work on the car myself, but after seeing the chassis and sheet metal fabrication that the Barillaros did through the first phases of the build I did not want diminish the build with my poor craftsmanship, so now the car will be a true Barillaro built car. The only thing they are not doing is the engine machine work and the upholstery. But I am proud to say that the overall look and specifications are my vision for the car.
20171222_161639.jpg Here is a shot of the really nice floor panels Mike B made. 536697432.jpg Stay tuned more progress reports to follow.

The body was reunited with the chassis for installation of all components and final adjustments before being torn down again for paint. 20180105_162952.jpg 20180105_163733.jpg
