The mighty Rouge plant first car produced there was the Model A. It Was the largest manufacturing facility in the world when it was built.Did you see the Rotunda in the background at the end.
Thanks for sharing the video. I've seen it before, but don't remember if it had the jazzy music . Very cool stuff.
Enjoyed the video, and it was done almost the same way when I worked for GM @ the Atlanta, GA Lakewood Fisher Body/ Chevy plant from '58-'66 on the line. A little automation had occurred by then but not a lot. When I returned to the industry as a Journeyman Toolmaker in '77 @ the Atlanta Ford plant, there was considerably more automation involved, in fact I helped install and maintain some of the first robotic equipment. Now all the car plants in ATL are gone, but from all accounts both from people who stayed with the industry and followed the work elsewhere till they retired, and from videos I have seen, there's a lot more automation involved now.
Lots of automation now....as a result way less people getting to be part of the manufacturing middle class....technology has replaced the need for as many people at those plants..
Cool!!! I loved how those 2 guys were painting at the same time (32 sec.) Awesome transporters at the end. Good music!
