Looking for a grille for a 40-41 ford truck. Even an Argentina piece, preferably not the white metal one.

You need to post in the "parts wanted" section. They regularly turn up on E-play. Also check over at www.fordbarn.com.

The '40 standard car and '40/'41 pickup grilles are stamped sheet metal. Excellent repros are available from Bob Drake.

Original Ford '40 Standard grilles (which are factory on the '40 and '41 pickups) are not steel. They are pot metal. So is the center chrome part. The only grilles which look kinda like these, but actually use different brackets inside, are the '39 Deluxe grilles. Early Argentina repro '40 Standard grilles might have been made from steel, but they probably don't fit anything very well.

What alchemy said--have an nos one in the attic-never installed--Drake's fit well-others are questionable.

  8. 40grille.jpg I bought a grille of ebay from a fella in Kentucky. It was much cheaper than a Drake, but it has stamped steel sides that have been welded together. Obviously an old repo but this looks just like the originals and the drakes. It came with a nice Drake center chrome piece though. I thought it was a good buy for the money. Bolted up to the chin, center piece and upper support pretty well. Only a trained eye will be able to tell by looking closely that it's a repop.

The guy has a bunch of them, but I'm not sure if he still sells them.

I think you might be thinking of the 39 deluxe grille. The 40 standard, as mentioned above was cast pot metal (3 pieces)

    Got any info for him?

  11. His ebay name is nospartsman. He doesn't have any for sale right now. I also added a pic to my previous post so you can see what it looks like.

  13. The originals are pot metal. But I think the Drakes are stamped.

I've had Drakes in the past that are cast pot metal. They look exactly like originals, except don't come with warps or cracks.
