Posted by Rex on the Basso roadster (in the foreground) thread. I love the angle of this shot.

Ed Pink 1936 Ford 5 window Coupe

    1948-1951

The 36 was featured in the Fawcett Books, Sports cars and Hot Rods #109 "How to Build a Hot Rod"

    Written by Louis Hochman.

Ed Pink first built the car in late 1948 49 time frame. A local body shop guy preformed the 5” chop on the car.

Ed built the flathead while he was working for Lou Baney at the Hot Rod Haven in west LA.

    Raced At

    El Mirage

    Bonneville

    Muroc Dry Lakes

    Santa Ana Drag Strip

Ed Pink was a member of the follwing clubs:

    Coupes Club

    Screw Drivers

    A.R.C. American Racing Club

In 1951 the flathead was pulled and a strait six from Chet Herbert's 1932 Vicky was installed.

The car was sold at the end of 1951 when Ed Pink joined the Army.

Awesome work. I'm sad that I never knew about your shop when I was living in Loveland and Fort Collins.

  12. No doubt she is a beauty, but FWIW, if you want that grille to be correct, the top corners
should be painted the body color, not chromed. (Very common error by chrome shops
    through the years)

Personally i like the whole grill painted and just the stainless on the 36 grill, it helps blend the whole front end sheetmetal together and not make it stick out. Ed Pink said he had the whole thing chromed. in one of the photos of the car there is a close up shot of the GMC motor installed the grill appears to be chromed. and when we stripped the paint of the grill it was chromed.

Stoked to see this thing this weekend. So amazing to see the color in the day light. Those b/w images lead us to believe it wasn't nearly as much of a standout as it actually is.

  20. Amazing in every way! Wow! The paint, headers wheel choice and engine sound nail it. Looks angry and classy at the same time!

Sweet. Somewhere in my archives I should have a copy of that issue of the magazine it was in. I think it cost me .75 when I was 12 or 13 years old.
