I picked up a new project yesterday. 1957 Chevy sport coupe. This car was raced in the 60's at US 30 Dragstrip. Definitely needs some work, but i plan on making it a period correct car to the way it was. It is setup for a 4spd. It needs a full floor pan, door bottoms, and rockers. 62b58b24-1696-4d10-acaa-f53c85cb4c4d.jpeg 20c59754-12ac-45ce-a405-215a70d082ef.jpeg 24ec317a-190c-4579-9a31-2fc9e357a190.jpeg 4642952d-a383-47f8-bcb2-de90ca6a21c8.jpeg d00f5dc5-c2eb-47db-8876-28fd16de1bb9.jpeg

Cool car, and with racing history that makes it even better. Do you have any pictures of it when it was raced?

Not yet. I am trying to track some down. The PO said that the name was either Dark Horse, Wild Horse, or Paranoia

Yea nor is the trunk lid. What happens when you run foberglass.

  14. At least there is no rust in the hood and fenders. :D

I'll bet you would be hard pressed to find another glass front end with that Corvette style scoop these days. Very neat little car for sure.

Do you know what it ran? Big block car or small block or some other brand all together? It would be fun to know all about the old hopptie.

Yea im not diggin that scoop...
The motor was a Big Block Chevy backed by a 4spd trans and a Olds rear end.

has an aluminum firewall the firewall is pretty ruff but it is workable. its all screwed up from i believe a clutch explosion. 4080b713-7529-448e-8f11-5e5b07762edb.jpeg

  17. That is a big block corvette style scoop, they were very popular in the mid to late '60s.
I wonder if it was a 396 car. Around here the 396 was popular with the weekenders before the 454. 427s were expensive and not easily found in the wrecking yards.

  18. Hard to go wrong with a 57 Chebby. Its at that stage whereby its worth more every day.

Its possible it could have been a 396 car. but i have a 427 i plan on dropping in there. im unsure of what induction system i want to run on it.

  21. Well I like your thinking. I have always liked the 427 but been a 396 guy. :D

Won't fit under the scoop unless the engine is dropped way down. The mill most likely ran a 2x4 on a low or medium rise manifold. That said the pipe organ looks cool and they worked good.

I would cut out the hood to fit the crower injection.

  25. You and me both. A hat on a bean built intake would be the real deal on my A unless I could land a Potvin for it. ;)

So until I find a nice set of 15x10 cragars for the rear I have a pair of cragar super tricks I'm going to run on the rear.

So I picked these up for 50 bucks. I plan on for temporary painting the centers gold. To get rid of the charcoal spray bomb job.

  30. Remind's me of the C-gas 210 hardtop I had in high school. Mine was primer red with a white top. So what are the rear wheels they look like old Keystone 5 Spokes. I'll be watching this one for sure.
