Projects Other Makes pre 1935 Traditional Hot Rods

Keep them coming, lets see more 40's style builds.

 

There was a complete '32 Plymouth roadster with perfect sheet metal on our place in Texas. I played in it when I was little and started making plans to get it running when I was 12 or 13. I came home from school one day and my dad had cut it up for scrap along with a '41 Dodge, '47 Chevy fast back, and a '41 Ford pickup. At least he made a trailer pickup bed.

 

Yet more Chevrolets.

 

That middle one with yellows wheels, OH MY GOD!!

 

I have a few more pictures of that one if you would like. It was built for a guys wife few years ago but it wasn't fun for her to drive so I think they sold it. It had an early Chevy 4 cylinder. It is a beauty.

Now that's interesting:

 

A remake of a Colorado hot rod hill climb contender. Made with the original Wayne head and misc part from the original car, with one of the original builders

Its called the T-33, build on a truck frame with a roadster body, a stout stovebolt with 12 port Wayne and and zoomies.
Freaking awesome. Build by a HAMBer too. I'm still waiting for him to start a build thread on here.
Its the same guy build the odd rod stump puller. Nicks speed shop or nicks hot rod shop. I joined instagram to follow that build.

 

Not a hot rod from the 40s, I have been hankering to build a speedster of some sort.

I have spotted a REO that would be a good candidate. Factory Mag and chain drive starter.

There are some nice non-ford cars put there that makes good rods.

The hood with four small vent doors in, that chevy/GM had, I've seem on some fords. Are they aftermarked or OEM accessories that was avalible back then?

 

The hood sides you speak of are stock on 1932 Chevrolets

but when I see a hood with 4 vents on a 31 Ford, are they then from a 1932 chevy or an aftermarked surplier?

 

..........................If you go to the Jalopyrama website there are some photo albums from the various shows. There may be more there. Meantime I'll search around to see if I can find more.

 

I know back in the day some folks welded the centers of the Chevy hoods into their Fords for a different look. Now, Rootlieb, if I recall correctly, makes model A and '32 ford hoods with the Chevy doors.

Building one right now. 3" chop, fenderless hi boy, '32 Confederate Coach.

There is a reason not many Chevy's are used ............................................ I'm already sick of replacing wood with steel !

 

Not pre-35 but close, my 35 Chevy Standard phaeton and a friend's chopped 35 Chevy Master 'All enclosed coupe' (Sloper), both Ozzie GM 'Holden' bodies.He needs to change out those wheels

 

That's good stuff, 35 year is great, just making that into a title for this thread is loooooooonnnnnggggggg. Lol
