OK so I just recently quite Instagram. And since then come back to using the Hamb more. I have heard a few people say The Hamb isn't what it used to be but I disagree. This place is full of a wealth of knowledge and I am in debt to what it has given me. So I wanted to start a thread to hear only positive coments of what the Hamb has done for you! For instance I just recently wanted to find channeled 32 roadsters from the forties. And I found way too many to post but here's a few!
I enjoy the eras of automobilia covered and related things. The knowledge base both practical and literary. The humour. The people. The sharing of related information...Truly a blessing of worldwide proportions.
1) The H.A.M.B. drags 2) drag cars in motion thread 3) technical threads on fabrication, welding, sheetmetal work, etc.... 4) build threads, especially on nostalgia drag cars 5) Meltdown drags coverage.
help and support the members give the events whats going on in the world of traditional hot rods where to find stuff that you think you need and just good people later
I like the humor, talking with other tradesman, and learning from other peoples tips tricks and expeirences. If im having trouble with something I can do a search and usually find the answer. I find that this site has a million more times knowledge than other sites. The biggest reason for me liking the hamb is the DIY ethic here, seems we all build our own vehicles and which contributes to so much knowledge here. Three cheers for the hamb
I like the diversity on here. What one person says "NO" to you may have two others encouraging you to "GO FOR IT". The support is unprecedented. Also, it seems if it is old(scooters, mini bikes, gas pumps...etc) there is a wealth of knowledge on here abound. Love this place. And, thanks for all the support I have received so far from everyone. BART.
Its just fun , cool to see all the old photos, a true time machine. Neat to see all the build threads very talented people, I'd love to build all these RODs , But I can't .Just people of like mine , I have loved cars sense my first pedal car. ,I still do collect [play] with toy cars and build models. There is people here that do the same. Also love drawing Rods. Roth style have ever sense school days. So I LOVE this site. And LOVE the pre 1965 style of HOT RODS . So thanks everyone .
I love this sight just for the amount of knowledge I have gained. I also find it funny how 11 people say that they love the HAMB, and there are only 2 Alliance members, out of the 11. Lets do our part and support the HAMB.
What amazes me is if you look at the time of day posts are made somebody is on here 24 hours a day. I can't set down and read a book but I can spend hours on here. I had been a HAMB reader for years and decided how cheap of entertainment this is so I joined up with an Alliance membership too.
The hamb has helped me learn pretty much everything I know about early fords. I don't have anyone close to me that is into these type of cars so hamb is like a mentor to me. I have also met some pretty nice people from here as well
Good people and great help on different things that other people are doing. There is a vast amount of different car builders on here and we all work together to make it that much more fun. We are kind of a dying group of people the youth of today are not into the Hot Rodding like us Older people are so we kinda have to keep it going and this is one place where that happens. Don't mean being Older as bad, but it is where we are all headed. Lets keep up the great work, which helps us all out.
All of the above plus the inspiration: There are guys and gals that do amazing things (perfect weld beads, pinstripes, flawless sheetmetal, etc.), with the most modest tools and budgets and in the most austere environments. Langy is a great example.
I agree with above. The DIY attitude is one of the things I like the most. So many technical threads there isn't much that isn't covered. I also love the willingness of some members to help one another out. The eye candy on some threads is also ultimate inspiration! It keeps me in the garage and helps me keep focus on getting my car finished. Encouraging comments and suggestions on my build thread keep me going. Another thing I like is the sense of tradition on the HAMB. Growing up in the restoration hobby and AACA, the jump into Traditional Hot Rodding was easy. I quickly realized that the two aren't much different. HAMB friendly cars are Antique hot rods. The work that goes into many hot rods is far more involved than many restorations out there. Thanks to Ryan and all the staff!
Baha nope he didn't just heard a few people down and I thought dammit I am so grateful for it lol. Thought it might be nice to have a purely positive thread. Didn't see another one like it so maybe it would be nice for Ryan to hear some good feed back
I like it for all the GOOD people on here {not like flea bay} and the help I have received on car problems over the years and a lot of new friends I have made on here. P .S . and you can cuss once in a while. Thanks to Ryan and you all. Bruce.
Why do I love the Hamb? Man,I could write a book about it,the friendships I have forged & the people I have met,the cars I have seen and the knowledge I have gleamed. The Hamb is like a psychedelic vortex that sucks me in every time I log in! HRP
Like minded folk. Not to sound too sappy here, but I mean making your way in the world today takes everything you've got. Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot. Wouldn't you like to get away? Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you......wait a minute...sorry that is the theme to Cheers. Never mind.
Jeez, where do I start.... Besides the obvious, I think that the relatively narrow focus here makes it a great place. When you check-in to the Hamb, you know what you're gonna get. Not some all over the place FB bullshit.
Some of what I see here just blows my shit away. The amazing sheet metal fabrication, the perfect robot-like welds, etc. I'm no good at either of those things, but when I see others doing it, that gives me the confidence to try harder. I'm new here and don't know any of you, but I'm looking forward to crossing paths one of these days. Thanks to all those who make this site possible.
The freakn' place is GREAT! Thanks Ryan. I have had this old shit spinning around in my head for about 50 years, it's awesome to know there are other eclectic souls out there ; who are like minded. It sure is a fun diversion from day to day reality.
What few things that I've sold on this site is money made to support the HAMB by being an Alliance Member. I can't tell you the # of things that I've learned on this site. I don't learn anything watching the Kardashian's. Late To The Party??? How 'bout them Hogs!!!
The internet lured me back into the car scene after a 15 year break, and the one constant in my research was the best tech knowledge came from this "HAMB" place. If I had a question, the Hamb had the answer in spades. After a while my Google searches turned into "HAMB 54 chevy dropped axle" or "HAMB brake line straightener" or "HAMB **" whatever because the cream rose to the top that way. The next thing I know, I'm hundreds of hours into reading build threads and tech threads and tool threads and basically enjoying the good fruits of this place. It just seemed right to plug all the way in.
Nothing else on the internet even comes close!....... Except maybe some auction, fishing, hunting, motorcycle and off road sites but nothing else.....throw in porn and the weather channel but thats it, nothing else.
