The reason I suggested a Google is that I use it often to see variations in things and lead me to other info. It's a great resource that many people don't really think about.

Here's Mazda/Courier 1.8 SOHC that I'm using in a Model chassis with a chopped fiberglass sedan delivery body. Transmission is an aluminum 4 speed. Image 1.jpg

Thanks for the explanation of the V-TECH I did a web query on it and it brought up a Honda VVT engine Vtec that confused me

Lifters! Which should I use? I have double lockers in the car but a new cam is going in and I think I should change over to the wider foot single lockers or maybe re-worked Chrysler. The cam is a Breirley M24/1R, a 4 Port/Winfield grind as I understand. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1453089448.195034.jpg
An assortment of lifters I have. Single lockers in 2 diameters, 3 Chryslers setup for OHV and short & long Chryslers. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1453089570.433088.jpg
    Cool parts from fellow hambers!

if the motor is still apart , be sure to cut the lifter blocks so you can adjust valves without all the rotating & guessing .....

I thought I did that but that was 20 yeas ago. My gosh those things are a pain to adjust. The motor is in the car and I was trying to do quick cam swap. I will pull the whole thing apart now.

Chrysler flathead I have read. They are slightly larger in diameter and I have 2 types, about 5/8" longer than stock and about 1/4" longer than stock. They sure look easier to adjust. The foot is wider.

    Just checking in....

The only news I have is I sold my alum. Winfield head to free up some cash to buy some some tooling for the shop.

Things are done here the way they have been done forever or state of the art. Today we went to a gasket company to order a one off head gasket. The cut the gaskets with a laser. Same for the rings. So no more hand cut gaskets and steel rule tooling. Now to find a custom crankshaft and connecting rod maker. Big problem is getting the correct rod bolts

  24. Probably a stupid Newbee question. If you run an A head on a B Block, what gasket do you use?

Its not a good idea to run a standard A head on a B motor there is not enough meat in the head gasket between cylinders

    That's a new one

  28. Just make sure the lifters clear the cam bearing bosses. I used a diameter I found posted but in my block (A) they were still a little large and would hang up on the bosses. Just check each one as you turn them down.

Or run a DO set up

  30. I have also seen the Chrysler lifters interfering with the cam bearings (on cam).
Part of the issue is just too large, not necessary with stock type reground cams and the foot is not concentric.
IMHO, the Chrysler lifter is needed when cam is 1 3/4" OD and over .40 lift.
A reground cam is much smaller base circle and the 1.1 lifter is fine.
