So nice, that's what fuelers looked like when I was in high school. Looks like it won't be long before it makes some noise.

Thanks so much for the good words from all of you! This project has been a little slower than most for me but I alway need to keep things like this in check with life, the wife, and the wallet. ;-)

I'm looking forward to finishing this one up and displaying it for all to see. I really hope I get the invite to park it in the NHRA museum for a little bit. That's a bucket list item for me.

We also chickened out on the open trailer deal this year and popped for a super sweet enclosed unit. Should provide a secure spot for the toys and a little comfort for the family as well.

    Cheers,

    Robert M.

What is the differences between a Schieffer and a Cerrillo other than who made them ? Actual difference or just a popularity thing ? They look the same. I have a Schieffer.

  7. Before it was a Scheiffer, it was a Harmon & Collins. Each guy down the line that acquired to tooling made improvements.

I have seen the Harmon and Collins mag`s for Flatheads and they looked the same as the Schieffer and Cerillo. It seemed that they all used the same mag`s and machined the bases for the different motors.

  9. Exactly. The internals changed over the years, but Kenny Harmon's original casting remained the same.

Prep'n the final parts and pieces for assembly. Filing rings, assembling Pistons onto Rods, and stuff'n that shit in the hole. Most of all enjoying my time with my little shop apprentice.

Clickity Clack goes the little gear! Everything is perfect. Oh, and Fred, I dialed in the cam hub. End play as set by the washer is 0.006". Thanks for the phone call yesterday. :)

    Game on!

It will not see track time because its a Cacklefest car.
Ran out of time to finnish it, had it there on display for the Beebe family because of the death of Dave Beebe a few weeks prior bbvs.jpg

Robert, such an outstanding job you're doing on this car.
    Just curious about the Halibrands.
The original cars' rear wheels (and the aquired ones) are IIRC, called Speedway Specials.
The photo of the car on the trailer in the parking lot appear to be the Big Window Hals.
Am I correct, were these just mockup/transport wheels? Or did the BB, V, and S car use both styles?

  20. Thank you for the post; very entertaining. I wonder if you have the specs for the Engle L131 cam. I have one but have misplaced the spec sheet and need it to set the cam. Hoping you or some one may be able to help.

    There's always Eagle Field! ;)

  22. Bumping up an old thread...Robert Morris sold the car to Matt Nausin who is now the current caretaker and who will complete the car under the direction of fuel veteran Pete Jensen, shown with the cowl late last year.

This project is likely to start in the spring and hopefully making some noise by the end of the summer.
