'55-'57 chevy killed them & better looking. BUT; dad had a '55or'56 "ranch wagon" with cattle brand marks on seats & v8 3speed - beat the hell out of that thing - anyone ever seen that - interior pictures? Wish I could find unrusted '55 or'56 - they all rusted away while chevy raced on. What a-hole designed the front headlight setup? To many chevies still on the road/track. Grew to love that old ford. What engine to use? The stock v8 was silly stupid with intakes on top of each other & no HP. A gift SOHC rammed in there would be sweet. A guess a new design Hemi would be a sin? Dream on....

google: 58 Fords > you will realize it would take MAJOR ___-to make a tailgate for a small number of models.

  5. BUT.......In '57 Rancheros and wagons used the same tailgate...only the top moulding/sheetmetal was different. So why did the'58 wagons have the '58 style tailights and the Ranchero didn't.? They were already making the '58 style for the wagons. Maybe Ford had enough left over tailgates from the '57 runs to do the '58 Rancheros. Just a thought.

In about 68 or 69 my cousin had a 58 2 door custom 300 with a 292 T-Bird special and a 3 speed. That sucker would run 90 in 2nd gear. A high school buddie had a 57 4 door that we stuffed a wore out 427 and C6 in from a wrecked hi-way patrol car, it was rusted all to hell with the headlights held in with metal plumbers straping. We had a bunch of stop light to stop light fun til we got found out.

  14. Great collection of 'chero pics, GOTGAS......thanks for posting those. I hadn't seen most of them. Is pic #2 a newer version of the car in pic#3? (hopefully not the other way around.... I like the shiney ). Another pic of mine I just took yesterday while on my 3rd day of roadtesting. Also posted the pic on another pic thread, but it belongs here.
AmishMike.....my post/pic on my engine was deleted by one of the moderators, and rightfully so. mine is not a topic for a traditional forum. If you want more info on my car or the drivetrain, I've got long build threads at www.57fordsforever.com my tag there is Rich Muise. I'll leave it at that.
    Sorry for the trouble, mods.

Lots of great looking cars in here. I'll throw mine into the mix as well.

Photo credit to Rich and Trent, both great guys and excellent photographers.

Some of you may have noticed the '64 Ford taillights in several of the pictures. This was a relatively simple & common swap in the mid '60s for '57 fords, basically a 'bucket' swap.

  17. As were the '63 Galaxie's. I guess now I need to post another pic. I added the outer ss ring (made from dog dish bowls). Last pic, I promise! edit:...'63 Galaxie 500 XL to be exact..they are different from non-XL models.

  18. I should have promised no more pics of my car....This car belong to a friend/fellow 57 forumn member who started his road testing after a long build the same week I did. He's from Washington state, and will be at my house in April, then both our cars will head out to Oklahoma for the weekend.

  20. Looking good as always, Donnie. Needs a name on the door...somethin' like "Dunwright". One pic doesn't do the details on that car justice.
