This picture by G.D. Fronabarger was taken at the Ted Schott Distributing Co. which sold Pepsi-Cola products in the Cape Girardeau area. The names and date are unknown.

Is it just me or does this 58 Olds steering wheel appear to be oddly close to the windshield as these late 50's cars dashes had a considerable width from the windshield and long neck steering columns to boot. The lady appears to be sitting in the right proportion in the front seat but would need 4 foot arms to steer the car … Strange ? Strange Steering Wheel.jpg

Maybe the image is reversed? Perhaps the driver is the one taking the pic? See the reversed image:

    Make more sense now?

I just received these great WW2 pix from a good friend in Mexico... Happy New Year to everyone on the HAMB, and to all the contributors to this great thread.

Header pipes don't look like a nailhead. Two center ports on a nailhead aren't next to each other. Looks more like a SBC to me.

  24. Great pix from WWII. Where wud we be without those Rosies?

  25. That's a statue of King Kamehameha in Honolulu, Hawaii behind the roadster. When I think of Hawaii, I don't normally think of hot rods, especially in the early '50s. Yet, there was a drag strip just west of Pearl Harbor when I was stationed there in the '60s.
