Still chipping away. trying to get all the little things done so I can get the car move under its own power. Wiring is nothing but good times. Need to find me a driveshaft guy here in Austin. Hope to drive it by the end of the year.

OH Man, there is nothing more I hate than wiring. Drives me to drink, which may not be a bad thing. Good luck.

I've been known to get carried away with things. Still chipping away at the electrical. Got my fuse panel and dashboard complete. Almost ready to put a battery in and check it out ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1448065300.910999.jpg

Did you buy a wiring kit and is that your coil behind the plate? Very nice job as usual.

  9. No kit here. I work on electrical everyday so I'm kind of inclined to do my own. I ment to put the coil on the inside of the fire wall. But my poor planning resulted in forgetting to weld on The fasteners. So mounting it on the back of my fuse panel was the next best option. I really don't want to have screws hanging out of the firewall

Work continues. Working on finishing my wiring. That requires me finishing up my steering column first so I can pull the blinker wiring. Should be a nice clean set up. Besides who doesn't like shiny. Still no steering wheel. Winter has arrived in Texas so no painting for a while. Come hell or high water I'm driving this to Santa Maria this year.

You'll make it. After you get that bird nest of wires sorted out it's all down hill.

ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1450550086.202747.jpg Rolled this thing out of the garage for the first time. Still a long ways to go but pretty excited. A driveshaft and get my carbs all set up and I'm ready to drive.

That would be bitchin' enough right there, but looking back at what it took to get there is beyond impressive.

I did roll a new ring for it. just need to put the finger depressions in there and I think it'll work. I really like the way it flows in the steering column. Also got a few more my interior panels done. Progress is progress. Just obtained a commercial sewing machine. So hopefully I will start the upholstery sometime next month.

Maybe this is dumb question but is that conduit you're using for the wheel? I have a trashed 39 ford wheel much like the condition of yours and would be very interested in how you're going to fab it.

  19. Yes I'm still working out the details. Should make some progress this week

Put the finger divots with a piece of 3/4 rod. I ran it through my cheapie tubing roller. It gives it a nice D shape to it similar to the original. I still need to make the mounts where the spokes meet the wheel.

Damn, that looks really good! Did you use 3/4" diameter tube?

  22. I used half inch conduit which is a three-quarter inch OD. It's the same size as the original wheel. 1 inch seemed a little chunky to me.

  23. Very creative; me thinks you will pull it off!
Also dig the '36 horn grille for the center of the dash..

That's the right answer. I'll start on the next project then.

I was just trying to be smart about then next one. Didn't want to see it forsale in a couple years only to be in the shitty position to not be able to buy it.

So I survived the holidays and managed not to kill myself. Although not from lack of trying. Still chipping away at this thing. working on the bumpers. They're pretty well bent up and since it's spring steel it's a challenge to get them halfway straight. probably end up replacing them at some point but currently not in the budget. still getting my upholstery stuff together. haven't finished my steering wheel. Think I'll just roll over and buy replacement or make a new one totally. Focusing on getting the engine running and driving I should have it drivable by the end of the month. I think I'm 90 days from lone star round up. Going to try and make it this year come hell or high water.

  28. Chippin' away is the order of the day; I feel your pain. But, at least, you are making progress.
That fan shroud is a work of art!
