Projects My 1957 Lincoln Premiere "Sunsation" Build

Been on the HAMB for a while, buying, trading and selling but just now decided to finally share one of my builds in progress. This is "Sunsation" a 1957 Lincoln Premiere Hardtop Coupe. Currently "Sunsation" has received a treatment of various updates and shows as the pictures, in its current state. body has been brought to metal, body work done and a nice combination of a paint scheme has been laid on to it. The tires, wheels and hubcaps have been freshened with WWW by Coker and a lower stance given. Completely reupholstered and wrapped in black vinyl. This beauty currently runs under its original power train, a Lincoln 368 Y Block and a Turbo Drive automatic transmission and will have a full rebuild to keep it original. This is a driver and will need these updates with the power train and other components to continue driving to every show it attends. There are plenty up updates and changes that will be coming to "Sunsation" in the months to come as it will be striving to make its freshened debut at Santa Maria West Coast Kustoms 2016, so look out for "Sunsation" and the updates to come in the next few months. This is a California Kustom and will continue its life in this Great state...No trailer queens in this side of town... Keep em' Kustom, keep em' driving... HFFH

Who ever said the road to a build is easy?... Well whoever did, is out of their freakin' mind... I've gone down this road before, exception is this time the road is not to build a kustom but rather the road to "KUSTOMSVILLE"...


Progress on "Sunsation" is underway and a step closer to its destination in "HOODSVILLE"...


Taking an engine out of a car is a challenge of 2-4 hours on a normal day; add rain, hail, high winds, thunder, lightning, coldness and a Lincoln 368 Y block and you have a 12 hour day taking an engine out.


Keeping as close as possible to tradition, the decision has been made to keep and rebuild the 368 Y block. It is especially important due to the nature of this great lifestyle, slowly fading away and it is upto us to keep it alive and pass it along for future generations to enjoy. With Teslas, Hybrid Hondas, Toyotas and even Dodge and Chevy's, pretty soon we will have no Gasoline engines; let along big, heavy, torquie ones like this beautiful 368 Y Block....


In any case, the road to "KUSTOMSVILLE" keeps on going and we must travel it to achieve our end game and live the vision to "HOODSVILLE"... Enjoy the progress pics and remember to Keep it Humble and Keep it Kustom... HFFH

 

My first car was a '57 Lincoln (see my avatar) and this thread sure brings up the memories.
Looking at the air cleaner on your car I see that it has the regular type wing nut. On my car the air cleaner wing nut was a large sheet metal stamped thing with three wings. I have never seen another one before or since. I don't think that it was aftermarket but who knows?

 

What 's wrong with the engine ? I have a 56 with the same engine
