What's happening everyone? Needing help in fitting some supremes on my 56 210. I bought 15x8 rims w 215x70x15 tires. The rims are direct for so I'll need adapters to go from 5x4.75 to 5x5 which are 1.25 thick. Now my tire is way to wide now without adapters. I really wanna use these rims, any suggestions on how to make them fit like other tire size or changing something else? Thanks
I have a pair of old chrome slots, 15x8, that I had on the back of my 55 Chevy for a while. But the rear in my car is narrowed about 2". I hate to say it, but you really do need to plan this stuff out ahead of time....either buy rims that fit your car, or modify the car to fit the rims you want to use. have you looked at how much material is available on the axles, to redrill them for the larger bolt pattern?
get narrower wheels (15"x 6" max) with the correct bolt pattern. your 210 had 15"x 5" wheels originally. trying to fit 8" wheels with typical back spacing is tough enough, especially if the back spacing is incorrect, and isn't helped any by the tire width. Ray
LOL I voted but I am not sure what I voted for. You could use olds axles cut to fit and brakes. LOL Your current bolt pattern is 5 on 4.75 I would suggest that you take a look at the axle flanges and see if they can be drilled to 5 on 5. I'll bet that there is enough meat to do that. or heaven forbid, maybe there is enough room on the wheel flange to slot them and make them like a universal wheel, I'll just about bet if you look on the mounting face of the wheel there is actually a pattern showing that they can be made universal. Don't do wither of these at home by the way, you will need a machine shop and a rotary table at the very least. I just changed my vote. LOL
Another way to fix it is to cut the wheel openings. No pictures of the car....so we can't really see what the look is that you're going for
Given the wheel choice I would have to guess that custom is the drill. But if the wheel openings are reshaped to match the front wheel openings that is about as custom as it gets. Think Nomad sedan here.
I got them so cheap with brand new tires i couldn't pass. plus if i couldn't make them work i would sell them. but it seems to be to much to get them to work. Thanks
They were still using 6" wheels in the mid '60s. It was your basic across the board American made wheel. You could buy a car with wider wheels but it was seldom a low end sedan. No offense to the model that you own intended.

I doubt 15x8 rims are going to fit comfortably on a 56 Chevy. It will involve the right wheel offset and some creative use of a 2 lbs. hammer.
Ha ha! I voted too. The wheel adapters aren't helping you out at all either. Their thickness is eating up room under your fenders as well. The old carpentry saying definitely could apply here - measure twice and cut once.
