This just hurts! W engine, manual tranny. Road draft tube in sight but I can't see the dipstick. One bubbletop that didn't make it

 

Remember those old white plastic "Whitewalls"??
Go over 65 & they always came loose!!

Just curious, are you indicating 348 & 409 were W engines?

 

Yes, that's what we call 'em where I'm from. Looks like a 3 speed tranny laying there.

 

OK…I understand… W engines are normally engines that cylinders are not inline but share a common crankshaft, like a V8 but cylinders not inline on each side.

I was wondering if you were joking about a V8 that turned into a W8 after being hit by a train.

 

Hadn't thought of it that way, but now that you mention it, that's funny!

 

P-63 "King Cobra" same deal. I'm not sure that it was an improvement.

 

...let's hope the precision grinding was better than the sign painter's spelling...
