Rootie, another thing that crossed my mind when looking at your picture of the Rounds car is the use of the de Dion tube rear suspension. Off the top of my mind I can only think of one other Indianapolis car (although I'm sure there were others) that used this layout. That would be the 1969 roadster that Quin Epperly built for Darwin Maxson; although he used coilovers. That car always looked like the ultimate roadster to me and I corresponded with George Benson a couple of times about it. However, he didn't think much of it after having tried to get it into the 500. I don't really know why but no else ever got much speed out of it at Indy either.

Veteran George Snider did manage to get a 7th place finish (after qualifying 12th) in the car at Phoenix in 1970 but that was about it.

The Rounds car was pretty much a copy of the old German Auto Union type Ds of the late 30s and it looks like they didn't stray too much from their rear suspension design. They may have been better off with a conventional A- frame type IRS.

No I don't. About the only way I can see would be to take the wheels off the trailer.

Adding to your theme. Based on the year of the tow vehicle and the number on the Bowes I'm saying '46.

They look very similar to the ones I made.

Do you know what they cost? I plan to offer mine for sale when the car is completed. Thanks
