Which blast media makes the least dust, ?? I have a small vacum on a small cabinet and it seems to plug the filter very fast with sand dust . I may try the black slag type if it would cut down the dust. I use it for rust removal only so no desire for walnut shells or anything like that.

 

I use the black slag, still dusty when it gets old but not bad when fresh

 

Black Diamond blasting media. Sold at Tractor Supply Co. $7-$8 per 50lb bag. Cuts rust and paint, some dust but not nearly as bad as sand.

 

Try one of the Kirby vacuum sweepers they have a large bag and will not plug up so fast.
I have been using one for years and it wont stop.
I went through several shop vacs before I tried the Kirby.
You can pick these up for cheep.

 

I've been using the black slag media from the local Menards in Council Bluffs, IA. I've got a big blaster/vacuum with a truck sized air filter and it doesn't take too long before I have to take the filter out and roll/tap in on the drive to get all of the dust out. We are mainly blasting rust but also paint, if I could I'd exhaust all of the dust to the outside but I'd hate to pump heated air to our precious environment and cause additional global warming Black slag doesn't tend to break down as it's used and lose it's effectiveness but I suspect there is no way to remedy that.

 

I use the black diamond media from Menards, and just duct it out the wall. No dust, no mess.

 

My cabinet has a blower unit that empties into a leaf sucker bag.

 

Use the 5 gallon water bucket trick,Can't kind the link but someone here knows.Works great and saves the vac.

 

2x^, my vacuum would plug up after a short time until I changed it to a water filter system.

I use 180 glass beads, clean mine out very little...

Is there a need for the 2nd hose? I don't see a use for it?

 

Cabinet to bucket and bucket to vacuum. Hard to see how the air would get from cabinet to vacuum without both hoses.

 

If you mean the "dip tube" inside the bucket, you want what is coming from the cabinet to end up under water, but what is heading to the vacuum cleaner to be in the air.

 

Every time I use my shop vac on mine it sucks the glove off. I do like the bucket idea.

 

3M weatherstrip adhesive, in the tube.

 

You need some air coming in the blast cabinet.

 

I made a vent similar to this to adjust airflow thru the cabinet, works good.

 

I cooked a pizza under one of those.
