Couldn't have said it better. I lived that era and I can tell you that no one listened to that swill. No one. It's like listening to MX 50's station. The play a lot of songs that no one ever listened to or even heard of back then.
If you want to hear real cruisin music, get a sound track of American Graffiti. Now that's cruzen music. When I watch the movie and see those cars cruisin to that music, I almost cry it's so beautiful.

An "answer song" to Whittier Blvd. This would sound great blasting out of a tube powered radio with a reverb unit in the back.

Great stuff, everyone. I've picked up a few more for my playlist that I hadn't heard before. "15 Days Under The Hood" by the Paladins is a killer piece.

Nearly impossible to narrow it down to 5, but I'll throw these out there.
    1) Can't believe nobody's mentioned Sammy Hagar and "Can't Drive 55"!?
    2) Dick Dale and Stevie Ray Vaughan's duet version of "Pipeline".
    3) "Lowrider" by War
    4) "You Can't Catch Me" by Chuck Berry
    5) "Hard Times Down the Road" by The Earl Brothers

And yes, music in the garage is about as traditional as it gets!!

  18. "Hot Wired" by the Road Kings.

I'm too techno illiterate to post a link to it, but if someone can help a brother out...
