Dean can you tell us a little more about your 60? Do you know the history on it and how long it was a race car? Also what motor and transmission does it have and how long have you had it?

Jim Dillon was piecing a 60 together. He posts on the corvette threads frequently.

The mileage on the 60 has mostly been 1/4 mile at a time. It started with a 283-270 hp then a 327-365 was installed which is still in it. I did rebuild it a few years ago as it was leaking everywhere and install a roller among other things Many different carb setups from cross ram to tunnel ram. It has a Muncie and 4.88 posi in a stock housing. The 60 has been on the east side of Cincinnati since new. The 55 is mine also and was raced way back in Indiana with a 409 in it. The firewall still has all the battle scars of that installation.......lol It is currently a small block, tunnel ram, Muncie, 4.56 posi.................

Dean you have some really great cars. I believe you have shown these at shows in your area and I have seen pics of those shows. Really glad to see that you have saved them as they were pretty much. I hope to see them in person some day. Glad to see you posting pictures of them and I am probably not alone in appreciating the pics.

Jason, I have been in touch with Porkshop and hopefully he will be able to score some good stuff. Just so you know I am now piecing together a 58 that was pretty much a backhalf (probably a front end total). It is the car that I hope to do as a stocker (although it could end up a M/SP). I do have a 60 that also needs piecing together that was an old gasser/modified production car out of Alabama but that is on the back burner for awhile. I wish I could also be piecing the 60 together but only so many hands and so many nickels and dimes in the cookie jar.

The guy in the driver's suit looks more like the late John Fitch to me...

Dean60 it's a treat to see another early Drag car that has not only survived but has continued in the same condition and configuration for all of these years. There are very few that can say that. Do you know who raced it and what class it ran in? Also How did you find it and did you discover it's history or was it already known? The pictures are great and I also like the 55. It's cool that you have the racing history for both of these cars. So many cars have had their racing history erased over the years.

What can you tell us about the Mother Goose Corvettes?

  13. The something different car and the car with the Bill Thomas lettering on the fender are from my neck of the woods. Both pics are from the Coronado Speed Festival, but it must have been last year, because I help run the show and I'm pretty sure that car wasn't here this year.

This is from the 1962 Winter Nationals. It's mostly Dragsters But there is one Corvette on the starting line early in the Video and 3 more starting at around the 7:20 mark. The first one Looks like the Mazmanian car, candy apple red with 6 tail lights and then there is what looks like a black one with a hard top rear window modification? Also it looks like there is a silver one.

And we could do an entire thread on Mr. Fitch's accomplishments.

Yep it definitely needs different wheels, I don't know if it was a work in progress when the pictures were taken.

187 mph with a normally aspirated 301. That is damn impressive.

Jack Lufkin worked at Ak Millers Garage so he was on the cutting edge for his day. I believe that he was the one that showed up at Daytona in 56 with his 1956 Corvette and ran almost 150 right up there with the Chevrolet factory cars. He was offered a job with Chevy but wanted to stay with Ak. I will dig through my old magazines for the feature article.

Those are stock 1964 hub caps. So I guess the wheels still would have to be replaced.
