The first picture is Wayne Gapp (later of Gapp&Roush),and the second one has John Donilson's "Hellfire" awb Thunderbolt in the background.
I talk to his son Steve occasionally.Very nice guy.

Been almost a year since I have been on here, caught up on some good reading!Haven't touched my poor 65 Cyclone since then either.

Here's my pics Al before your new years deadline , these 3 ( l to r : 65 afx or factory bfx if you wish to call it , 64 bfx , and 65 possible Hipo cyclone 6 digit DSO , 9 in Hipo rear end , 1 piece export brace but no paper work to back it up ) , gonna be setting here till my 40x40x16 building goes up in february then I'll have a place to work on them

Found this one on the vintage shots page. Yea it's a 66 but too nice not to post.

 

Anyone know if this Comet is still around?

 

I have a picture of it smashed after a accident in Ohio while being towed in late 64 or early 65.. It also says in Charlie Morris book (Factory Lightweights) it was hauled back to Maryland and had new fiberglass parts installed and raced along side the 1965 Moyer A/FX Comet. So it may very well be alive today stored or maybe even re-stored, I won't speculate on that any farther. I really like the looks of that car(maybe just a 1964 thing) ....................................Al

 

Thanx Al. It's an awfully cool '64! I have that book,and will look into it. There is a new great book out. "Total Performers,Ford Drag Racing in the 1960's" by Charles Morris. If you don't already have, you will want it!

 

Mike,did you sell those Cragers that were on the Falcon?

Yea, a little weird in the middle of know where a fire starts, but I guess it could have been something electrical from the new build

 

I just noticed a Cool picture of The Rocket (Dales Comet) in the latest Hot Rod Magazine, nice to see Dale is still getting some publicity on his car..............Al

 

Tommie Thompson, from my home town of Dundalk Md. Thompson Lincoln Mercury now Thompson Dodge. Pretty sure they still have that car.

 

Is this Mr. Howell that owns the car?
