  1. Another picture of Muir's 76 gas station at NW 26th and Vaughn. I guess Muir is just about to be assaulted by Zorro?

Ah yes. Buick's 1955 futurama Wildcat dream car shown at shows though out the fall of 54 foreshadowing various features that were to become integrated into the 56 Buick model lines least of all the shaved hood of course. Makes you wonder why they did not start creating these two door sport/glamour jobs as a production model line. I mean what was GM waiting for as the sport car market was heating up all around them by 55 and the big three were in an excellent position to capitalize on this. Any thoughts ? 9. GM was the ''everyman car'', there were fewer sports car buyers than family sedans. The Corvette in '53 was a big departure from the stodgy image Chevy maintained. Hell, Ford had a V8 in production more than 20 years prior to Chevy. Businesses are slow to change a proven sales pattern. Like many people, I love the special cars, but the folks at GM wanted to sell lots of cars. That was accomplished with lots of sedans and pedestrian vehicles, with a lot fewer ragtops and high performance models.
    Just my take on it.

Just escaped from Alcatraz - ready to make his escape in a beautiful Ford similar to the one my family owned.

I love this photo of the old Eakin Hotel. My Grandmother Becky Doggett had a restaurant and parlor there. My Dad in the 1960s worked at the Texaco station across the street from the Hotel.
