Well after reading everyone's thoughts and outlooks on the question I think I am going to do what the CAR tells me and start modifying. I have a full set of orig Lincoln drums and backing plates that I will be putting to good use. I have the reversed eye spring in my stock pile and recently acquired a prewar Eddie Meyer intake from a pick my brother and I scored on in Tn. The Columbia I will have built by John Stukesberry out of TN also. He has done 4 of them for me in the past and is excellent with them. I thank everyone for all the comment and thoughts. I will post pics as I do the changes. I am a nazi for period correct and this car will look like it rolled out of 1940. I am going to drive it though for a couple months while I finish up the metal work on my 32 3wd. Than its on for the spring!!!!!
To answer the original question (again),....YES, you are ruining a beautiful car. And would you please hurry up with the ruining! This hot rod is going to be really cool.

I am very glad you ended up with 1934 Ford Roadster. When I saw the car in corner of garage cover with bed sheet I knew that was car you needed to bring home. I know it took a lot negotiation to get the car but it well worth it to get such a nice car. The car a lot nicer then the car your dad bought at W.W.G. estate sell. Thank your dad for supper in Asheville I never laugh so hard in my life. J.W. has a very nice 1934 wishbone. He does not need it for 1932 Ford Roadster build. He might have some more 1934 Ford parts. She found out very quickly that 1934 parts does not fit 1932 Ford. Poor fellow. Mike give me call I have one those high dollar Hudson steering boxes. If you're building a 1940 era Hot Rod, the build will be really authentic as this is just what someone in 1940 would have started with; a 39,000 mile, six year old '34. I have to believe these were your plans deep down inside when factoring in the cost of this purchase. It's a beautiful car. Even though all your mods are essentially bolt-ons in place of original parts, with the caveat that it could be returned to original, there's a chance (because the car will look so good) that it will never be returned to stock, especially if it sees another owner down the road, who makes a couple of additional mods and possibly sells off the original parts that go along with the car.
The museums are already full. If they were not, one of them would have already purchased this one. Let the modifications begin. Neither you, or this car, are going to live forever.
If you're not satisfied with how it is now its not worth having. Make it yours and be stoked on it. Can't take it with you.
