I'm looking for photos of some hotrods with wide 5 wheels. thinking about running them on my 32 3 window, I have been looking around at some old bonneville photos and I have yet to see a set on any of the lakes cars . any photos fellas ??

I have them going on my truck. Will post pics tomorrow. I also sell adapters for those who want to run a modern rear.

  6. You need to look at east coast cars, especially speedway cars, not lakes.

WOW. Looks great. I might be mistaken, but IMHO one of the reasons the wheels and tires look so good on this car is that the back spacing and wheel widths are the same - or very near the same - on all 4 wheels. Often times the front wheels have back spacing so much over center, that the wheel centers / caps / covers stick out much further than the rears. Combine that with the commonly seen shallow back spacing on wide rear rims, and you get some goofy looking wheel sets. This get-up looks evenly spaced, and so so so perfect, to me. Gary

Once you get an eye for the wide5 you'll see it often. If you want to see some wide5's on traditional Bonneville type cars then go thru the 'P.R.C'. thread (Pasadena Roadster Club), you'll see lots of them there.

  12. This was built by a friend..now in Sweden...Won twice at GG's , Invited & displayed at Indy by NHRA..Not bad for a 'glas car..... He's just finished an "A" sedan with the same theme.. DSC00772.jpg

  20. I second the wide 5 idea. It will make your coupe stand out from the rest of the 3W's imo

Question? If wide five drums are used can they be fitted with the better
self energizing brakes as a 1940 5.5 drum can?

roadster at hay barn 2.jpg Our wide five car. We had to check probably 12 or so wheels before we found 4 with the minimum runout, most were bent slightly.

I'm using them on my 29 if it ever gets finished. Found some hub caps that I like, but I like them without also.
