Yup, let's keep it traditional. Here's an updated pic of my newly rebabbitted A banger with Winfield 6:1 head, Burns intake/side cover, and dual Strombergs. Need to clean it up a bit, but all parts date from 1946 or before - even the spark plugs

 

Go Gary! I think I like the colors are plenty fine, especially from this angle, from the bottom of the engine... I don't know.

 

Thanks! The green is growing on me...next step is a raw magnesium timing side cover and a full-length header (possibly chromed). I dig various natural metal finishes... Here's my draft of the header, (rough & not to scale) I drew over lunch one day...

My new banger motor from H & H..Burns intake and cover, thomas head, dual 81s, scat crank, nos mallory dual point. Waiting for $$ for 35 trans adapter and rear end rebuild then shes rollin!!

Anyone know anything about these worm drive hose clamps with the thumb screws? They turned up on the restoration of the Walker/Morrison roadster as well.

 

i think you need to see someone about your clamp issues.
i do remember working on something back in high school that used those clamps, but for the life of me i can not remember...........boat engine maybe?

 

Ha! And you though I was a sick puppy!! from the TRJ journal article on the restoration of the Walker/Morrison roadster. And after they machined them, they had them chromed!

 

1946 59 AB. Milled stock heads, Hexagon dual intake, Twin Marvel Schebler carbs, Home made headders,
And thumb screw clamps all over too.

 

^^I really love this, and not just the hose clamps, the whole picture. This is one of those deals if I saw it at a car show, I would find myself coming back 3 or 4 times. Where did you get the clamps, just scouring swap meets and ebay?
I have a nice 59AB core and trans, as well as a full set of '40 wheels, dash, column jacket and steering wheel, all stuff that came with my '39. Not sure what I will do with that stuff, but it will probably get used someday.

 

I was looking through my old magazines and saw an article on different types of hose clamps. I will find the mag and see what it says.

 

They are aviation spec clamps. We have them at work on turbine engines. Some of them are drilled for safety wire.

 

You can see a hole for safety wire in the Wittek clamps beside them, in the original photo I posed in response to GWhites post about chroming his headers.
