It looks very trick and you've got a great build there! Since you asked for suggestions the only thing I can see in your first group of photos is maybe consider adding a custom headers to fit and fill in the lower hood sides. Something that goes with the swoop of the lower hood with a unique twisting of pipes to fill it all in my opinion. Great job, keep it up!

  4. So ill throw in my 0.02.
This front profile is just about perfect.
Once your green line mods are done I wouldn't change a thing! Awesome

    Now around the back,,,

I'm thinking you need more car back here, not necessarily an overly wide wheel lip that morphs into a pseudo fender.

The narrowing ducks ass of the body in the rear needs to be more subtle- make body wider at the rear. That's what id do.

Then you can just incorporate a more filling and fitting rear wheel opening into it.

Redoing the rear part of the frame. The more I dove into this project, the deeper it went. Upgrading the ladder bars. Made new rear frame rails. Now making some exhaust pass passages ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1426219313.103143.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1426219367.749507.jpg

What a slick looking job on your firewall. Now you're going to HAVE to share how you accomplished that. Looks great.

  12. The angle chop makes it look bent in the middle to me. Maybe if it were mine I would either straighten the chop out (that would be work) or slope the hood a bit. If you were to straighten the chop out a bit it would have a kind of a roundy round vib goin' on.

That said neat project, it will look a whole lot neater @ 80 on a two lane.

    Firewall update.....

Side note, I'm still bound and determine to build a fenderless " fat fender" that will be acceptable by the masses ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1430589927.934878.jpg

  18. Yeah buddy. We all need more projects!! Got my eye out for the COE that got away!

  19. What a great, creative project. Really interested to see how this turns out.
    So far - very good.

  20. You guys are crazy!

I've had my 36 2dr 31 years. Stock with fenders and all
But your car in SWEET! I love that thing!

My good friend built a similar 35 sedan 35+/- and it ran around here for several years. All traditional, sans fenders, chopped top, with dark green body and tan wire wheels. Flattie with three speed and Columbia rear, 39 tail lights. That car was a real work of art... unfortunately it got away and I haven't seen it for 10+ years. I got to find a pic of it.... That car was such an inspiration to me...

I can't wait to see how your car turns out. Keep those pics coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who says 36's don't look good fenderless? Not me. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1441579767.557221.jpg ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1441579825.369916.jpg . I may be biased though. Great eye. One thing I wish I'd done was to reshape the bead in the rear to tuck it right around the tire, like a '32. I totally dig your hood and front end design, looks killer.

  26. How's it coming Vick?

  27. Hey my ornery friend I was wonderin' if you would post. Don't let this make your hat too small but I have always dug the shit out of your roadster. This is one of my favorite non conformist cars. It is just a work of art.

I personally think that most cars that we think need fenders really don't they just have to be reshaped to run without them. ;)

Just when your kinda down, I get to hits with people asking about the build.. Humbly its puts a smile on my face.... Enough said,

I don't have many update pictures. I've painted the engine, because I needed to see some color.

I've also took the front end apart again. I continually study the lines of the car ( ok, sitting in the chair with s cold beverage, same thing). When I made the new frame and pinched the rails, the frame is actually 4-5" narrower then that of say a 32-34. With that said, I've decided to go with a narrowed tube axle. HUGE shout out to Magnum Suspension ( Mike and Fred and great resources).....

So, I'm mocking up the tube axle with the dropped ends. Cutting an inch or 3 from the ends of the axle to bring the front track narrower. This will make the from end look more proportional when looking straight on. I fought with shock and headlight placement and the wheels being so far out.

With all of that said, if I'm able to come across an V8 60 axle, I may narrow it, no drop and run a torsion bar front end with the bars parallel to the frame. Although more unique, I know it will leave a greater void from the frame to the ground ( that which would be filled by a drop axle) making the car look like its sitting higher
-- So, I need to make a decision soon.

I'll be going the California Hot Rod reunion Sat, maybe I'll find an u dropped tube axle

Started my transmission tunnel and floor pan.

Slowed my time on the car a bit to finish some long overdue parts of the wife's house. 36 Vick will be getting more attention real soon

Thanks for asking guys, gives me some drive.

Engine, chassis and rear end will be 69 Riviera green
All the radius rods, drag link, ladder bars, etc will be gloss black. All ends, heims and bolts polished, and the body will be raw, ( I have several body mods still, but want to drive it sooner then later)
