  3. in the 60's that is how we did it! as for welding there has always be good welders stick or tig or gas. use to gas weld all my tanks and pans. a lot of people used 6011 rod that could be bought at any hardware store or co-op

Let me preface this...I haven't talked to DJ for a couple years, last time was on the phone right after he got his T built with the blown alky sbc. He's a damn nice guy with A LOT of enthusiasm and I sure respect his work ethic.

DJ if you're reading this, I agree with all the guys that flamed those ladder bars. You have to redo that shit man, that BBC has enough power to break those welds under load. What if one side let go on a wheelstand or something...bad bad deal.

The front spring mounts are sketch as hell too dude, if that car came down even a little sideways from a wheelstand, the hangers are sooo long they have A LOT of leverage on the weld if you side load em. Plus the welds are so minimal they'd break right off. Mount the spring eye as close to the bottom of the frame rail as you can.

Lastly, I'd put the shackles up front and solid mount the rear spring eyes instead. You don't HAVE to, it'd work the way you have it, but those shackles might slap the frame and bind the springs. -Kev

    He's got a bit of a hair trigger,but he's a fantastic dude.

Hell,I've made enough mistakes to fill ten lifetimes.

It's all water under the bridge.I hope the Boss lets him drop back in now that things have cooled off for a while.

Bean and I actually had words at the beginning of this thread due to a miscommunication. After about thirty seconds of clarification,we not only got along ok,but I ended up following this thread closely, watching his YouTube channel daily, and trading tips on cool music back and forth frequently.

Hope he comes back.Soon.Hes too much fun to not have him around.

This place is a lot like raising kids I think. Sometimes you gotta bite your lip and let them find out stuff on their own. If people don't ask for your advice ,they probably aren't going to appreciate it anyway. Just my opinion ,I am usually wrong.

You've got a good point Joe.I'm guilty of being a habit of a hard headed bastard a little more often than I should be,too.

And yes, sometimes all you can do is lead the horse to water, and keep your fingers crossed:)

So I've been talking to Bean a bunch lately, and the car is underway,he has had some setbacks here and there, but it should be ready in time for the 2016 Meltdown drags.
It should be one heck of a show!:)

He's been busy with family,so he's been getting a little help working on the car from a good friend of his.
I'll see if he can sneak by there and get us a couple snapshots of the progress.:)
