Havent really been able to get back working on this thing, touch it here and there but no real progress, the chassis was diamond by about 1/4 inch and it bothered me, i knew i could oblong the mounting holes and the car would probably drive fine but i didnt want to. So i talked to Bulls dad Neil who owns Wright County Collision and my buddy Brandon who works there about putting the car on the frame rack and getting it straitened out, turned out Neil had some work for me to do so i horse traded. They put the car up on the rack and got the frame nice and Square and the body bolts dropped right in! So thats all better now, i got the car back home and stuck the motor back in it and got the headlights situated but again just havent been able to get back on it. hopefully soon, heres a few pics anyways.

  4. I know what it's like to get it right and then sell it off... I'm doing a reincarnation of my "Rocket Sled" and hopefully we both get them finished soon!!

So, ive been watchin the coverage of TROG and wanted to go bad, figured if i entered my id have to go and it would give me a good reason to get it done, so i started busting but on it, i wanted to get the body tuned up a little more so i dug into it some more, a couple buddies (Cale and Andy Wilson) were in town visiting and offered there help on some body work, so we pulled an all-niter and got it tuned up enough for me! got it in a coat of hi build primer, then got it smoother out (mostly :)) and shot it in some epoxy primer i mixed to a color id had ideas doing it in, im pretty happy with how it turned out.

Now its time to dig into the mechanicals, i just ordered all new internals for the motor, 59ab block, merc cranks, ross forged pistons, L100 cam etc etc. should be a decent motor. I have a 354 gear set for the rear i need to install and finish the driveshaft, gonna change out the 48 spindles to 37-41 and do a different steering arm. and am working on some different options for wheel and tire combo, still

It turned out great Titus! It is funny that our tastes changed about the same time from OHV '60's styled Deuce coupes to a late Forties style build, maybe it is more appreciation for the pioneers and the Lake period. Anyways have fun at the beach!

Yeah, just something about using all early ford parts to slap a bad ass hot rod together. But i do still like 50s and 60s stuff, thats why i rounded up a couple more 32 5 windows, so i could build em in different styles, they just lend themselves to hot rodding so good it was hard to make up my mind on what to do. so now i have more options!

took a pitman arm and cut half the end off, ground the heck out of the spindle and made the two into one, worked nicely.

I really like this version better (no offense meant). Did you use a pickup cowl vent? It's farther ahead than most. Or is that one of those things different between the two versions of 5 window stampings?

Just my opinion but adding this has pretty much ruined an otherwise fine hot rod.

hey, to each is thier own, i am very understated on stuff i build for this time period, notice no other trinkity shit on the car, nor is it a new overused peice, thats why i did it, and it is on the edge of flashy for me too, i just like it thats all. and it is a radiator cap so it can easily be changed out if i ever decide to do so!

When i got the cowl it had been cut for a blower all the way back to the dash rail, at the time all i could find was a chunk from a truck so thats what it got!

That's true, I do not like what it stands for so for me I would remove it and melt it down into a lump of scrap metal !

  22. You should listen to him Titus! Take it off and send it to me. I'll happily ruin my hot rod with it ;)

Seriously though, it's a bitchin' hot rod. Too bad we both missed TROG, I was looking forward to seeing it in person.

That Blue One guy sure does like to shit on peoples cars. Told me I ruined mine too with the color choice. I think he's just got blue balls (or maybe it's just one blue one?) and that's why he's ornery. ;)

Killer car Jeff. Bummed you weren't able to run it at TROG, but looking forward to getting our flatty powered cars out together.
