Ha, I was in Montreal staying at the hotel and the caribou fall hunting season was on. There were lots of 'mericans travelling through, we were sitting in the bar and a big ol boy in full cammo says to me "you boys here for the caribou hunt?" and I say "no sir, I just hunt cougar" he slapped his knee and said "GOOD ONE" and bought me a drink

Here are a couple pictures of my Canadian 1948 Pontiac Silverstreak. It has the 239ci flathead 6, and is in pretty good shape for it's age. Some of the difficulties though are the 6 bolt wheels, and finding out which parts are Chevy and which are Pontiac since these seem to be made from a bit of both. I'm toying with the idea of swapping out the motor for an OHC Pontiac to give me a little more power and reliability, but am still not sure what I want to do with the rear end, front suspension, etc. Plus there's updating the brakes, etc. etc.

Canadian differences, hmm...As far as I know, the Mercury trucks retained the flathead for an extra year in Canada before switching to the new OHV V8. There's a '54 near me with the flathead.
Anyone here seen a '59 Monarch Sceptre (Mercury Parklane)? Giant gold crown emblem on the trunk, crown hood ornament, and "Sceptre" in gothic lettering on the front fender. Encountered a sitting/rotting one a few years ago and spent a while searching online to figure out what it was. Looked something like this:

Canada is truly full of minerals, copper, nickel, gold, and even the odd precious metal deposits!!!

  26. Love Kevin's Canadian 57 Pontiac. Has a 283, 3 speed on the column and a sweet pair of pipes. He's brought it to BTT50s a few times. I love the chevy-style hanging pedals...makes more sense than the old Pontiac floor pedals. I rode around in it a few years ago....nice driver for sure.
