The car in the foreground, scalloped with no skirts? Is it a 51 Victoria?

Straycatkustoms - Is that green sled a Lincoln? Just judging by the front fender lips.

  6. I'm pretty sure it is a Victoria but not positive on the year

Thanks for the confirmation! I just got my new issue of Traditional Kustoms (august 2015) Page 29 has corner shot of 1 pair of Vicky's quad headlights. the caption reads, " Bob Politz's Ford; it's the very definition of a Kustom. Unique while respecting tradition."
I'd like to add that a lot of tasteful creativity went into the build.
On the back cover, TK is trying to drum up subscribers. They are using a side frontal of your car. I hope they reward you with a feature. by the way: to all of the Kustom lovers following this thread, I recomend Traditional Kustoms! It is great!

The blue Merc above has been sectioned four inches (and chopped of course) and is using a small Ford rear window, it's out of Bradshaw, Nebraska. Didn't get any info on the Candy Red Merc. The Weiner wagon is out of Billings, Montana, running a 350"/350 tranny...the '36 Ford is out of Pueblo, CO.

JW Caddy, didn't see you at all yesterday...sorry I missed you...

John's livin' right! I see it has a hood louvered. That, along with filled front vents, and a Merc grill, has always been a classic, never fail customization on the 59 Chevy.

With that said, I had to bring this over from another thread. (I also dig the cheater plugs on this one.)

I see that John's beauty also has dual antennae coming through the fin. I suggested that on an ancient thread, and was booed off the stage. LOL.

And the guy's got a 60 in the garage! speaking of 60 Impala's and dual antennae coming through the fin, Traditional Kustoms will have a feature on Bob Cardwell's "Cool Mist" in the near feature. I am not a huge fan of frenched antennae, but having the antennae coming through the fin is making good use of the fin, from my perspective. It also looks great! I also dig the cheater plugs (dumps, in my language). I really admire the little used short lake pipes on John's ride. MO, would you agree with me that these impalas are good examples of 60's show 'n go mild customs, with the rake. I see 348 flags on both examples! I believe if a fellow was going to a full custom presentation, he would likley use long lake pipes, and skirts, and not nearly the rake. Show (custom) and Go (rod) has always been my favvorite style of car.

I couldn't agree more! Customs were still popular, but the Super Stock era was knocking at the door like the Big Bad Wolf!

And as for '60 Chevys, does it get get any better than this?

And speaking of through-the-fin antennae, how about this "slant" on things?
Nicely frenched edge on the fin, too!

Yeah Mo, they are doing things right, down Texas way! I'd like to see the antennae installed on the blue car. I like creativity. And you sure have a good eye for details.

  20. Also has the "shorty" style lakes pipes; not as popular as the long style of the time..

  21. Hub Harness also has an aerial through the fin on his beautiful El Camino. (pic from Carnut.com)

I always liked the less popular shorty lakers. The lent a more aggressive attitude to the car, I think. I believe the show 'n go builders favored them. A real serious street brawler would leave them open outside but have a manually controlled inside lever to contol a "cut-out" which allowed for open exhaust or muffled exhaust. Can you imagine the law-dog attention a guy would get running open with a built 348 or 409? And imaging the suprise a fellow in the next lane would get when the Impala opended his exhaust right before dumping the clutch!

Yeah! Mo, that is very creative andtasteful. Do you think that is some type of flexpipe? I am hung-up on the ribbed lake pipes like Bob Nelson has on his fleetline. For mine, I'd like to have the exposed contours to be made of highly polished flex pipe, to match the luster of the remaining lake pipe. Feasable?

chopolds can give you the scoop on the K'Kart pipes.

Just regular flex pipe over the existing laker. The copper "rings" around it are just copper plated spring type hose clamps.
BTW, I believe they did this triple laker thing, because they tried making the bottom front part of the rear fender curved upward. when you see it without the pipes it looks kind of "broken", or empty there. They didn't always get the styling right!
