Dirty mind bring you here???? Seriously, I have a Mustang 2 rack and pinion steering that's about 15 years old and a brand new GM p/s pump. I installed the 3 shims that the pressure reduction kit states should be what is need for this application. (1000 lbs.) But! To me the steering feels like it's too sensitive. So, should I add another shim(4) to make the pressure 850 lbs. Or, take a shim out and increase the pressure to 1100 lbs. ? To my way of thinking, add another, that's what I started all this, adding shim's. Again, I would like to thank in advance all that take the time to reply.....Joe

If you have a genuine Mustang II rack, they are noted for this problem, regardless of pressure reduction. The more popular racks for MMII suspensions are those from the mid to late '80s T-birds and the Mustang R&P from '89 thru '93. Ray
I used the replacement valve and it made a world of difference although I purchased mine at Detroit Speed. Prior to that I felt like if I turned my head I changed lanes. It's all good now.
Is it just me or is the obvious answer to use the matching ford pump- it can't be that hard to adapt and it would be correct for the rack.
I HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT TOO ,WHY NOT USE THE MATCHING PUMP? MAYBE THERE IS AN ANSWER THAT IS NOT OBVIOUS

adapting may have been the answer before the engine went in the car, but now............ not likely, don't want to scratch the paint. I'll go with the valve... thanks, Joe
