So many of you have probably heard, the Kontinentals are putting on another Round Up in the fall called the BAYOU ROUND UP and the location is in Lafayette, Louisiana the weekend of Oct 16-18
All the details can be found at www.bayouroundup.com . In the same fashion and feel of the Lonestar Round Up we hold in Austin Tx every year in the spring, we decided to do a fall show in our neighboring state of Louisiana that will feature so many of the great traditional hot rods and custom cars from all around the country. We found a perfect setting in Lafayette on the ground of the historic Blackam Coliseum and the folks that run that town have totally embraced the idea of their streets being full of pre-'64 hot rods and custom cars. Great music, great food and great cruisin' in and around Lafayette all weekend. This show will have all the flavors of Louisiana w/ its great musical richness and incredible foods with a spectacular backdrop of all the classic cars at an historically stellar venue. Registration is open on the website and vendors can apply there also. This is the premier year and this show is set up to be more intimate than the Lonestar in Austin so come on and be a part of history for this 1st annual event. let me know who we gonna see down in the bayou in October.

  6. We are super excited to have some legendary Louisiana speed history on display out at the Bayou Round Up for you to enjoy seeing up close - including this amazing dragster The Mafia IV. The original Mafia car was built By Lester "Bullmoose" Guillory in Baton Rouge around 1963. Don Garlits really liked his work, and Lester actually worked for Don. The Mafia car was owned and raced mostly in and around La Place Dragway in southeastern Louisiana by A. J. Gilardi, between 1965-70. "Squint" Laiche was a crewmember on the car, and commissioned Chuck Haase to build a faithful recreation, as the original car could not be found. The Mafia car is powered by a 392 blown Chrysler Hemi, and the body is all hand-formed aluminum except for the rear chute-pack body, which is fiberglass.

  8. More Louisiana speed history at the Bayou Round Up - Metairie's "Knot" Farrington set a speed record of 241.78 mph in "Hel's Angel" his candy apple red streamlined 1956 Thunderbird on the salt in Bonneville in 1963 - the car is now on display at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches.

  9. At 95, Knot is still going strong - and will be bringing out his black street bird pictured below to the show, sporting a set of rare 5-pin Halibrand knock-off wheels, and powered by a stroked Y-block that uses flathead connecting rods with full-floating bearings.
