Here are a couple pics of an interesting banger mill I saw at the hill climb. Looks like overhead intake valves and side exhaust valves. School me on this roof conversion. Anyone out there have a spare dual down draft intake stashed away that they will not be using?
Looking for something that will work with 97s and a header on a flat head engine. Thanks, Steve

  6. It has been a long time but I think it was 7 to 1. It is from the second batch, the first was recalled due to a machining error. I really hounded Gene after he told me he was going to run a few "Crowsfoot" heads same with the Winfield valve covers/side plates.

Thanks for the info. Great information. I had seen some brass era cars with an f head set up but had never seen a model A/B conversion like this one. The workman ship on that car was beautiful.

3 new pressure lines ! that should help a lot . every time they put a spring in me , I felt better for a few . take care jimski ........... steve

  12. Wow, pressure lines and valves are fine, keep them away from the exhaust.........
Good to hear that you are doing better.
You didn't miss much, Bonneville cancelled again this year and no more events for the rest of 2015.
From what I hear, 2016 may not be much better.

    John

  13. Can someone point me to a list of what I need to bolt a 39 Transmission to a B Block? I have an AA bell housing, I know I need a lightened flywheel and a v-8 Clutch (what years?). What else do I need? Last car was bone stock so I am not used to piecing odd years together.

Still time to book a flight to Hershey. Take care of yourself or the boss nurse will.

  15. I believe with a bit of work you can fit the '39 gears into a B transmission case if you can find one.

  16. Most use an adapter kit as sold by various vendors, with the kit you can use the existing pedals but you will have to use an A flywheelhousing. Or you can piece together needed B Items.

John!! Don't give up on Bonneville yet this year. The USFRA is working diligently to hold their annual World of Speed event September 12-15. That is if the planets line up and the salt dries out. The World of Speed doesn't seem to get the press that Speed Week and World Finals have, but is a fantastic event that is not crowded. All record are SCTA certified by Dan Warner at the race site.
World of Speed 2014 was memorable for me as I upped my V4/FL record from 196.5 to 201.8. It took me 6 years of trying to break 200 with my banger.

  18. I don't have a B tranny. Looking to bolt the 39 to the AA housing. I thought this worked? But I am a newbee with no clue...".

  19. Just glad to know you're doing okay!

  20. You can cut the sump, throw away the B flywheel housing top half, fit an A flywheel housing, buy the adaptor that bolts to the A flywheel housing and '39 transmission and sell the AA housing to someone that wants to fit an open drive box of some description.

Or find a B trans case...

Either way you'll need to create a wishbone and pedal mount.

  21. Thats why I asked, sounds like the B transmission is the smart way to go. so the AA is typically used for what? a t-5 set up?

  22. Congratulations on making 200, that is quite the accomplishment.

Give up, no, re-prioritize yes. I have projects all over the place, I would like to start my RPU pile of treasure.

I have talked with a few of the people in that were in Utah and looking at the salt.
The fact that the WF event has been cancelled is an indication that someone knows a little more than me about the BSF. IMHO, the SCTA staff with STS actual experience and history will be better info than the forum hype.

Nothing against USFRA, it just isn't in the calendar this year.

All the best, and again, Congratulations on breaking 200, J

The AA works well for the T-5 because it is shorter to work with the shorter input shaft of the T-5. Kind of wish I went with an AA bell on my coupe project. Now I am dealing with finding a clutch disc that will work. I am going to end up having one made.

  24. Almost the end of the month but thought I would try here first. I showed pics of an A chassis I picked up a few month ago. Last week a 1916-1923 roadster body followed me home. The plan is to mate the T body to the A chassis. There is no wood in the T body left. After a bunch of research it appears that T's had wood subrails. I would like to upgrade this with steel, since wood doesn't weld very well :D. Does anyone have any advice? What did you use? How and where did you attach your new sketeton? I checked out the pics of OlSkool34's T build but it was a little light on the subrail portion of the build. It looks like A subrails in his old T but he never really gets into that.
    Advice welcome
    Pictures are even better:)

So thought that you guys would like to see some banger porn from the Georgetown CO Hot Rod Hill Climb.
There was some awesome iron there and it was an event worthy of planning to attend if you like this kind of stuff.
I met some HAMB brothers along with some really nice folks, how could they be otherwise after all we were there for all the right reasons....
It was worth repeating so I'm already planning for next year...in a banger.
My engine noise in the Cabby was the transmission. It would have not made the round trip so even as much as I regretted turning back in the banger I made it in the Roadster with 4 too many cylinders.
    Happy Motoring

AA and BB bellhousings are different and are not adaptable to each other.

If you want to adapt a later trans to a B block, you will need a BB bellhousing, the only way to use a AA bellhousing is to change your primary housing from your stock B to an A model.

    I have just completed a Tremec TK6060 adaptation to a B engine.

    you are welcome
I took lots of photos of the set up. I have a Graham blower like this one and my best ideas are borrowed. It appears to be well thought out and a real nice install. I didn't get to see or hear it run.
Took a B block to the machine shop Monday that looks to be a good candidate for a blower.
You have enough time to finish your car for next year so expect to see us both in a banger
