Is that a Rootbeer brown color? It's looking good, can't wait to see it painted and bolted back together.
My Willys in the sun to see the color and have started with the sound deadener. Had to install the instrument cluster just to see how it looks, I like it.
Have done some work on my Willys decided where the ac and heater hoses should pass the firewall. Mounted the fuel pressureregulator and some more soundproofing.
Last month I have wired most of my Willys. I have placed the Holley Terminator ECU in front of the passeners feet and covered it with an extra floor. The cruise control unit is on the left side of the cowl an ther fuse panel on the other side of the brake pedal. And the switches and hibeam turn signal indicator is also done.
Most of wiring is done on my Willys, have installed the driver side glovebox, parking brake is also there.
I guess its a lot more than you have to do, first a chassis inspection they check for weak construction, bumpsteer and those things it is already done. Then a road test where brakes and handling is checked, these checks are done by SFRO " swedish vehicle builders organisation". After that a final check where the car is checked for safety and emissions the same way all cars have to do in Sweden
Test fitting the headlights, I have used 5 3/4" H4 headlights behind the original Willys lenses and a turnsignal kit from Willys replacement parts. The car came with only garnish mouldings for the windshield and I did not want to pay $2500 for a new kit. I bought garnish mouldings for a 36 Chevy for $60 + shipping and a lot of cutting, welding,hammering and heating they look pretty god. No I will not chrome them its bondo time.
Started with the engine for the Willys today its a 4-bolt Chevy 350 with .030 overbore. I am using a Howards hydraulic roller cam so I started with test fitting the cam button, it didnt work with the aluminium timingcover I intended to use. Cleaned an old cover reinforced it with a steel plate and checked the play for the cam button and it was OK
Started the final assembly of the engine, installed the Eagle crank, Cloyes timing set and the Howards cam. Also checked the deckheight of the engine the pistons where 0.007" down in the bore and with a 0.039 headgasket I think thats fine.
The assembly of the engine for the Willys continues, the shortblock is done and the Edelbrock heads are there. Have checked the pushrod length and it looks fine
Interested in knowing more about using the 36 Chevy mouldings, how many sets needed, how similar are they to Willys? Thanks
I bought 4 from a 36 Chevy 4-door, the ones from the rear doors where enough to do the rear windows. For the Willys doors i used the ones from fronts that whas much more work, more cutting and welding. The Chevy moulding are a little to thick I had to make them thinner. I can take some pics if you want.
Working on my Willys, have painted the inside of the front section gloss black and red on the DeLuxe emblem on the dash
OK here are the pics, I didnt take any while I was making them but you can see the cuts. Make cardboard templates from the the car find a suitable piece from the garnish moulding, cut it out and make new templates, new pieces and weld them together. First 4 pics are the door garnish I had to make a new bottom piece the Chevy moulding where not long enough. The rear windows are just 4 carefully cut pieces
Last weeks its been hard to focus on my Willys, why a couple of days ago I bought this barnfind. A 34 Ford Fordor that has not seen the sun or rain in more than 40 years. Now I know what to do when the Willys is finished
