  1. Glad you got the fan sorted, that will work fine. I like the big air filter.

Was not aware of the rarity of the air cleaner. Did not think it was anything special , picked it up off eBay

    Thanks for the info !

That same air cleaner lid with the oval snorkel was used on several GM makes up through the mid-'60s.

I have one that was OEM issue on all '64 GTO 4-barrel 389 engines, it still has the factory chrome plating. Also have one that looks identical to the chromed one (painted shiny factory black enamel) that came on a '67 LeMans 326 2-barrel, it looks the same as the one that came on my '64 326 LeMans.

They're not a rare '59-'61 only piece, there's plenty of them still out there to be found. What's rare is finding one that doesn't have the end of the snorkel dinged all to hell.

    Finally posting some progress again

A big accomplishment for me, the chassis is completely finished , body painted underneath and inside and today the body was mounted !

  23. Mike: Hopefully you've heard this from others but you have done an amazing!!!! job building the 5 window. Most people wouldn't believe it if they saw what you started with. Its good to see you so close to being able to drive it. Have fun, be careful and be sure to take some pics. Tim

  25. Looking great! 5 years? That's the speed of light compared to me. I started my 64 Pontiac in 1984.....it's still not done.

Drove it for the first time a few weeks ago

Working out the bugs... Primarily Exhaust clearance issues caused by a change in rear springs

Excited and nervous , no matter how much care you take in building one of these seems something isn't quite right in the first few excursions

Have a Strange noise coming from the rearend this afternoon under acceleration ..
