Really like what you've done. These look a bit 'off' as stockers and you've really ironed out the design of it. It now looks like it should have done in the first place, is what I'm trying to say.

That wouldn't hurt but I dig what's on it pretty well. The rear's could stand to be a touch smaller, but the rear of the truck will come down at least another inch soon which will help. The front will settle more as well once we have more in it than a mock-up block.

Thanks T! I have my job at the Speed Shop to thank for that. Learned so much from the other guys who were here and have access to much better tools!

He definitely plans on driving it. All things considered the budget for this one isn't all that much so we kept the running gear as basic and reliable as could be and focused our efforts on the exterior. It won't look out of place at any show and oughta be able to drive it cross country!

Haven't mentioned it yet, but the truck will be black.

 

What are the plans for body color if I missed it?

Very nice details. I would have kept the front bumper and big headlights, but it's great as it is.

 

Great looking truck, your a craftsman for sure. I've always wondered how these trucks would look with a '34 car grill or a slimmed down truck grill, just too thick to me. Thanks for posting.

What a great build, the truck looks fantastic.

 

Man you really tightened up that truck! Those thangs are kinda gangly from the factory, but now it is sharp! Very clean design.

Only thing I might suggest is to paint up the hood sides in case he wants to run them some time.

 

Eric,,why dont you get them to let you "do your thing" on the 36 Cabrio thats been sitting there for years???

The customer has been pretty firm on not running hood sides at all. I would like to have them on the truck myself, but it's not that big of an issue and the engine will be pretty cool to look at anyhow.

That '36 cabriolet is really more of a museum piece than anything else. It came back to the shop due to losing its garage space. The owner moved and is waiting to get his new garage in shape. While it's here we've been messing around with replacing the brakes, rebuilding the steering, and doing some wiring so that it will at least run and drive again.

 

I'll take some good pictures of the hood latch stuff soon. In the mean time, here's some dash work. We wanted to have a full 6 gauge setup in there but really liked the factory dash. In line with that thinking, I cut the center out of the stock gauge panel (a one piece stamping with the rest of the dash) then made a bolt in panel that matched that same shape. It's filled with Classic Instruments All-American Nickel gauges with the winged logo left off, red half moon pointers, curved glass lenses and high step chrome bezels. Tach mounted in the center of the dash.

 

Stunning! And good people to boot.

That thing is amazing. Shame you have to cover that great metal work with paint.
