I am planning on it. Just going to take awhile. getting ready to retire from Active duty Coast Guard soon and need to join real world get a job and such. We are on our way home from Antarctica be home soon. I can't wait to get back to work on this. I have 120 days leave saved up so I plan on getting as much done on the gasser before hopefully getting a job. Man I haven't had to worry about finding a job in 24 years. I am nervous.

    Hi Eric

What type of work did you have in the Guard, looking for the same thing back on the ground ?

4 month's you could get your gasser pretty well along, i'am tuned in to see how you are doing

I am a electrician in the guard. Been busy settling back in. I am working on a set of heads for the engine which should flow better. Got to crawl under the body and finish prepping it for paint then mount it back on the frame.

Don't know what the transition would be like but commercial construction is booming in Seattle right now.
I'd imagine you'd have to talk to the hall and take their tests to determine your level.
All the halls are hurting for good hands right now, carpenters, labors, iron workers and operators, probably electricians too

    Hi Eric

You sure you want to use the Hydro, as the un-blown cars ran quicker with a clutch

The blown cars used them as the stick tran's would hold up with their power

My Buddy Tom Larkin saw the light and took his out of his 37' B/gasser , put in a chevy 4 speed and picked up a tenth and a half

Back then they had very little stall speed, and the clutch car could leave full tilt and it took a bit for the auto to get the rpm up and by then the clutch car was long gone

I have heard that also. But the car will mostly see nostalgia drags and have fun with it. I think the cool factor of running a original B&M will make it worth it

1 step forward half mile back. Decided to pull the heads today and check everything for the last time since running the engine for the first time. Well good thing I did. Valves kissed the piston. Need to figure out what happened and start over. So bummed but glad I checked before firing it up with a heavy load. Almost tempted to pick up some 11-1 pistons anf have more valve relief cut In. When i started the build it was a street car with occasional strip so it was 10-1 compression. I have since gone to the hilborn injection and more strip with occasional street.

  30. Ouch! Wonder if that would mess up the valve ?
