Hot Rods Anyone have experience with Brookville steel fenders?

I purchased both front and rear fenders for my 32-5 window a few years back from Brookville original body, Pete. & Jakes chassis & Bob Drake running boards. The front fenders fit pretty well however the rears needed tweaking to fit . All & all I would buy them again.

 

Many years ago I put a set of rear Brookvilles on a repo steel 32 roadster (Not Brookville) and had to modify them at the front of the wheel well area where the fender joins the running board and the body meets the chassis. Essentially a vertical relief cut and some metal work so the fender steps where the body sits on the chassis. Then I had to put a couple of relief cuts into the back where the fender bolts to the body as well to get the shape correct so it matched the lip on the body.

 

With a doctorate.

 

that is correct, we do make the 32 fenders, we do not make the model A fenders, i have been known to be " long winded" lol, when your self taught to type you just talk with the keyboard

 

I have a friend who sold his "originals' to put all new "29 fenders on his roadster.

Speaks of total regret every time Brookville name comes up. Finally, I said "No Ron, we were talking about BONNEVILLE". He slowed down.

Rick, since the consensus seems to be that the front 32s are made somewhat off, is there any movement towards retooling the dyes so that they fit without surgery?

 

I believe he addressed that somewhere mid sentence in his first post. That the dies had in fact been modified to have the front fenders fit better.
My wife wants fenders on my Model A Vic rather than put it on a 32 Frame as a hiboy as I had originally planned and the cost ends up being about the same for me.

 

Just because Larry doesn't USE fenders, it would be foolish to assume he didn't have an opinion about them.

 

When you get OEM GM fenders for 2000 up pick up you get the worst fitting fender, door gap and hood gap is way off. But on the good side the aftermarket Keystone Classic fender fits perfect. Who would of thunk . Some of the OEM GM parts are the ones that take the most work to properly install, some times they look like factory seconds. Just be glas that someone has taken a HUGE effort to reproduce them. Yes some times they take a little effort to fit but overall they are great to work with new metal. If t weren't for Brookville you would trying to put fiberglass fenders on your ride..

 

That HUGE effort you refer to, needed just a LITTLE more effort to make them fit perfect...

I've had a lot of experience with those fenders but don't think it would help you.. I packaged up many of those fenders for shipping when I worked at Brookville after I retired from GM... Good luck with yours...
