Guys, you do realise this is how wars start, don't you?

 

IMHO it was a problem when the US tried to slowly immerse people into the metric system, they should have made the switch and people would have learned it,the way they did it was silly. Metric system makes more sense and is easier to work with once you understand it. And the whitworth deal was apparently Englands system they abandoned and went along with the metric system. Oh yes, I have 2 tool boxes, 1 with metric and the other with American sizes.

All you multi box baller's out there! I like to just throw them all in the same drawer, makes it so much easier to find the size you need! (Just kidding, I think I own 4 Craftsman roll away boxes now, finally looking at stepping up to a big, professional grade box and giving a couple of the Craftsman's to the boys. We went to the junkyard this last weekend to get a 700r4 trans to build for our annual Christmas Cruise Grand Prize giveaway, and I took along my 250 (or so) Craftsman socket set, and my emergency tool kit (my old military tool bag) out of the Plymouth for wrenches, screwdrivers, etc......I ended up dumping the damn thing under a Suburban because I couldn't find what I wanted when I wanted it! About drove me F'ing nuts!

Hey, I use both systems, but inch systems ain't simple, by far!

But I don't mind using both, it's a choices make like I wants to do hot rods, play with old cars and live with my wife.

But imperial ain't simple!

Both videos were worth watching, but the second one in Post 6 (posted by Marty Stroud, shot by Mike Spicer) had the two cars that stood out to me....the Blue Track T at 0:45, and the Black Bucket at 1:14.

Not sure why, but when you click the link it comes up as an error because something adds a > in the address bar. Delete the > in the address bar and hit enter and it will work.

 

I don't see a > in the address bar.

Somebody better do something?!?!? I'm getting bored! Nobody's been to any shows or anything? I was supposed to go to one last Sat. but the Plymouth had other ideas! It wanted to play James Bond Spy Car instead! Seems a (not so) cleverly installed nylon block slipped and allowed the trans cooler line to rest on the crossmember, rubbing a hole in it! Turned out to be quite the PITA to fix. all because the guys who installed the front clip and motor and trans couldn't take two minutes to bend a little s in the line to keep it from rubbing....

 

I have been working out in the garage about 1 or 2 evenings a week. Nothing worth bragging about yet. Slowly sorting out the tuning on the tri power.

 

Ok, I've got a question for everyone, where do you have your battery located?

Something I should have thought of before now. Now I'm having a hard time finding space. I'm temped to stretch the bed 10 inches (my bed is 14) and put the battery and fuse panel there.

If you had to get creative, post up a picture of your positioning if you don't mind.

Hard to see but I use a small Honda battery on the right of tank. Plenty of cranking power for the Cad. engine. Probably more as the cranking power as the 6V battery the Cad engine used originally.

 

I've been cutting and bugging the wife's roadster this week.

If I was in Oz it would have been "bugger" with all the shit in that panel. Maybe bugging was right after all, LOL.

 

Not much going on here. Health issues have had me not feeling up to doing anything. The only thing that's gotten done is opening up the rear end to verify all is well inside. All the major stuff are good...just need to replace the seals and bearings.

On the battery placement, I'm going with one of the compact Odyssey PC680 batteries, and mounting it on the inside of the firewall, in the passenger footwell.

Well chaps, I'm happy to announce that I finally purchased my auto darkening helmet for both Tig and Mig welding and funnily enough I was doing a computer search of sellers in the greater Auckland area to see who was doing a promotion of the brand I wanted and found one for half price at the local Super Cheap Auto's store. So the end price was a $86.00 where the next cheapest was $109.00 plus freight.
How do I like it you ask, absolutely brilliant and should of had one years ago. The first run with the tig on light steel was pretty good for someone who hadn't used a welder for a couple of years or more. So, yes progress will be made on the Roadster real soon.
On another note though which is keeping me out of the garage is Mum has had a cancer surgically removed from her neck to reappear again within six weeks directly below the scar of the first op. so I have had to take her into Auckland to see a specialist about that and now waiting for an appointment to go back into hospital for day surgery to have the new stuff removed. Anyway with the cancer scare, my sister from the south island has decided she should come up and visit Mum for a week so I have told her that don't think she can come and sit in my lazyboy chair and have a holiday as I am going to leave the care of Mum entirely up to her so I can disappear out into the garage and work on the Roadster. So guys, progress will be made and I will take photo's to show what happens with any reports.
