Once you paint Black you'll never... oops wrong line Looks Damn good from where I'm sitting! I hope my hardtop looks half that good.

Looks pretty shinny in that last picture. (Sorry for the pun, using "shinny" instead of "shiny" really grinds my gears.) Seriously, looks killer.
I used all PPG shopline products, epoxy primer, 2k primer, jb9300 basecoat, and finally JC630 4.2 Polyurethane Clearcoat. 3 coats of base and 4 or 5 coats of clear.
looks fabulous! man, the first time I painted a car it looked nothing like that... mine actually looked like a first time paint job, unlike yours.
Looks very nice, it is all in the sanding, if you don't sand it correctly you can't save it with buffing. Bob

Wow looks great. What kind of advice can you give for a car with orange peel - black coat clear coat - paint unknow age or products - has not been cut and buffed, but needs help bad!!
like I said, this was my first paint job, so I don't feel qualified to give advice, but....... to get rid of the orange peel you have to sand it all down. I started with 800 if it was bad, 1000 where it wasn't too bad, then 1200, 1500, and 2000. you can go higher and there will be less buffing. of course when you sand the clear the shine goes away, but the buffer brings it back like magic. my car looked real nice before I sanded it and I was gonna just leave it alone, but I had several runs in the clear coat. I removed those with a razor blade, that left white marks so I had to sand the whole car. then the buffing. I'm glad I did it because there is no comparison, the buffer leaves it looking like glass, whereas before the sanding it was shiny, but not quite like a mirror. hope that helps.
