Here's a pic of the Moonlighter from 13 Forks Dragstrip in the late 60's. I don't know who to credit for the photo. 004.jpg

GREER GASSER RACE POSTPONED until next Saturday May 2nd.
A lot of thought has been put into this decision and even if we try to have it no one is going to enjoy it in between rain showers. Please share with all of your friends.

We can't control the weather and it's a good thing we can't, because if humans could control the weather we would have it screwed up like we do everything else.

Gene and Melvin have done a lot of work on the Moonlighter during the off-season. Gene also had some work done on himself. He had back surgery, but still plans to drive the car at Greer. Here's a pic of the Moonlighter's new stance. The worn out springs have been replaced along with the transmission and master cylinder. The other pic is where Gene was playing in the parking lot in front of his shop. DSC04711 (Medium).JPG DSC04708 (Medium).JPG

Gene Cromer and the Moonlighter will be racing with the South East Gassers at Shady Side dragway in Shelby NC this Saturday June 20th. First round of Qualifying will be at 5 o'clock. Here's a little video of Gene and the other South East Gassers.

Hi All. Just found this thread the other day.
It took Me three nights to read it all.
I think this was a Very Awesome thing that all involved did to restore the Moonlighter back to it's original glory!!!
I go to the Meltdown Drags every Year. I saw The Moonlighter and all of the other Southeast Gassers there last year. Mr. Stott, I can't wait to See Ya'll There this year. Will the Moonlighter be there as well?

Glad you enjoyed the thread, last time I looked it has had over 440,000 views. The South East Gassers are going to have about 8 cars at the Melt Downs Saturday for a special show. First time ever night racing there and we are lucky enough to be invited to be a part of it. Sorry to say that if something don't change Gene Cromer and the Moonlighter is not going to go this time, we are sure going to miss him.

I'll be busy always am but you grab me and introduce your self and remind me that we are buddies on the hamb. I do have a hard time at the races, It's hard to try and run the South East Gasser show and run a car at the same time. You be sure to stop by.

They look like American standards flipped...lots of guys ran the wheels backwards to get the offset where they wanted it.
