I like the line "slow down, we don't want to draw any attention". Yeah, like driving a Deuce roadster with open exhausts is inconspicuous! Also "must be supercharged", looks like dual carbs to me! I also noticed the patrol cars were two doors, must be hard putting perps in the back seat. I wonder if the show was filmed in Hollywood, because the roadster was channeled, east coast style.

The questions they asked the old man after his wife got killed were great. I can't believe he didn't get the plate number of the car that just killed his wife going over a hundred miles an hour. Speaking of which, HOW did she go UNDER the car and the car didn't even jump! Then, to add insult to injury, they didn't even help the poor old guy finish changing his tire.

I watch every old HiWay Patrol show I can find. The story lines are not that great but I like the cars, especially the 55 Buick patrol cars. I also like the 56,57 and 58 Buicks. The Mercs and Olds cop cars trip my trigger too, the Dodges not so much. The bad guys rides and general population background cars and trucks keep your interest all thru the show. Loved these shows when I was a kid when they were new and still do, 10-4

Suprisingly less cheesy than many modern cop shows. Effects are better too!

  14. The case of the stealth supercharger.............................................? And now I know why those "bullet hole" decals were so popular ;)

Got the whole series on DVD. One episode was especially descriptive. Dan Matthews (Broderick Crawford) caught these two hoodlums and said: PUNKS, THE BOTH OF YOU!

Cars used were 54 Oldsmobile, 55-57 Buicks, 56-57 Mercurys, 57-58 Dodges, and 59 Chevy.
Lot of famous people started out on this series:
Clint Eastwood was one of them.
    What's your 10-20? I am headed there! 10-4!

  17. I was watching one episode where his ending line was something like: Put your blood in the blood bank, not in the streets.

  18. Who's bringing the popcorn??;):)

And now I have "Highway Patrol" by Junior Brown stuck in my head. Not a bad thing, though.

I've read that the studio tried to film two full episodes per week and it made Broderick Crawford extremely angry. His response was to drink as much as possible, both on and off the set. You know he was a fun guy to work with!

Amazing how Hollywood still hasn't figured out how to get actors to use the sights on guns. I was waiting for the bad guy to get seven or eight shots out of the six-shooter.

120 mph and the bias tires didn't explode or send them off the road and crash? A story line and some great shots at speed, not bad for way back. Spring out front setup too.

That was a good episode. Olds powered rod, 56 Olds chase car and Bodericks 56 nailhead. All 2 doors even the 54 Olds in the beginning of the film.

I watched Highway Patrol in my youth. It was good in its day. I saw this episode a few months ago. When the bad guy gets shot at the end does Dan Mathews and the other officer just drive away, leaving the dead guy to be scooped up later and hauled away by the Body Disposal Department?

  29. When I posted this, I typed in Highway Patrol Hot Rod and got a message indicating no results. Something is wrong with the search function. Not me. Anything else?

  30. After I posted above, I did a search on something else. Again, I got a No Results Found. I retyped it again and a list of items showed. Go figure......
