That's my ex roommate, "The Bixby Flash", handing the goggles to Gar. Connie Swingle, originally from Bixby, OK.

  3. Ex roommate? You gotta tell us some Swingle stories! Please!!

Not sure whose dragster this is, but racing Pasadena, TX Willis Ragsdale, who still has the front wheels up in the air, not sure if it left the line like this or if Willis is shifting?

Good eyes, yes, it is...found another picture on Don Ewald's site....and it might be Dave Annin, Diamond Jim's brother...and guess the "Cerny" was Wes Cerny, of Cerny, Moody, and Lins fame (not George Cerny, the customizer/painter who also ran dragsters)...

Back when a teenager you worked on cars and not with cameras, so I don’t have many pictures of my cars, but these I do have. Sorry for the bad copies, scanned from old photos.

My 37 slant back Ford VW bucket seats and no back seat, 312 Y block out of a 57 T-bird. Isky solid lifter cam, jahn’s pistons, mallory duel point dizzy, dump tubes and was topped off with 2 carter four barrel carbs.

427 FE side oiler out of a Thunderbold ran A/C or with the body removed B gas dragster. Algon injection, 57 Ford telephone truck trans (short tail shaft) use 2-3 straight pull back.

The 427 side oiler FE ended up in this T bucket with 3 two barrels.

296Ardun.........I could be totally off-base here, but the background sure reminds me of National Trail Raceway in Ohio.......

Swingle and I roomed together during the time we both worked for Craig Breedlove on the Spirit of America LSR car, and he was also driving for Ed Pink. I could tell you some stories but I don't think the Statute of Limitations has expired yet...;)

  27. I've read a few stories about Swingle and, it sounds like he was a real character to say the least!

Bangkok Dean: This shot found its way to the De-uglifying Model T's thread as an example of what's right with a T! Some people poo-poo'd the windshield support rods, but most everyone dug the late '60s vibe. Nice job!
