Picked up this '61 Apache yesterday. 73000 miles, original everything. Needs some work but runs good. Pretty excited, been on the lookout for an affordable 60-63 for almost 10 years :D

I love your '63! Can you tell me the wheel & tire size you are running?

Heres my 61 Panel. Its an old Helms Bakery Truck. From what I can tell, I am the 4th owner. It has a 350/700r4.

    Oh Man! I wish!!

  6. I drove a '56 Chevy ex-Helms Bakery truck, back in the mid 60's, for J & M Donuts. Took donuts, twice a day, from the store/bakery in Covina to their satellite store in Pomona. I loved the smell of that truck...

Spent Two weeks getting this running for a local kid, no charge, And he rear ended somebody right after leaving my shop. Now it sits and rots in a local back yard. Looks like the frame may be tweaked.

Thanks.... Really wanted to keep the old school slots.... Had to shave a hair off the spindles to make them fit.

  12. Yep, looks great lowered and I agree with keeping the slots.

Man that takes me back. Those were the trucks I remember from Helm's when I was a kid in Diamond Bar. We'd hear that horn and lose our minds. You could hear the angles sing when he'd throw the back doors open.

    Screw the ice cream man.
