  2. Isn't that going to be a tight squeeze in an A bone> You're stretching the frame or???

Like the concept you don't see a lot of inline powered As.

Your head work looks pretty good too.

I thought that hotted up 261 engines used GMC rods to get away from the pinch bolt small end and it's inherent design weakness. But i see you are not doing that. Am I misinformed?

  5. My plan is to set the set the engine and transmission in the frame, and see if I need to stretch it, I am going to channel it. No chop East coast!

Some do, but I not trying to set a speed record.

Just a good strong Traditional Hot Rod engine.

Allright RJP! That looks like it's going to be a buzzin' half dozen! What you running for a body? I will look for air cleaners on my next junkyard crawl. What year vehicle would I find them?

Those air cleaner are found on mid 30's to late 40's(?) Chevrolet trucks.

Is changing to the GMC rods involved? I would guess the .990 pin dia would require a special piston.

  9. love this idea, can't wait for a mockup picture!

  10. I really don't know I have never done it.

I know it can be done using V6 Buick pistons, see link-

    http://www.inliners.org/tech/261_build.htm

I lost me shop space, so I am doing a lot of small stuff at work.

I had a 270 and later a 302 GMC in a '32 coupe for some years. Neat but it did get tight in there as I grew older. I didn't stretch 05_2421.JPG it.

that's great Robert, I can't wait to see more. You gonna run a model a frame?

  17. Yes, stock Model A frame, kicked in the rear.

I have a bent Model T, I am going to use the T rails to X the Model A frame.

Okay, you had me at 261, but that wasn't enough, you had to make me addicted too.

Stovebolt six, in Model A, with early Ford gearbox, and channeled and no chop!
That will really rock my boat!

Two Corvair turbos. At that time they ran between $19 and $150 in junkyards around here. And we actually had junkyards around here. No more. I blew up every turbo I could get my hands on. But it ran good for a while. That picture was taken 38 years ago. I bought the body and side rails with rear crossmember for $75 in 1965. No days like that anymore.

The car had been an Altered coupe drag car with a Y block in it. The front axle had been bent and the crossmember cracked a lot, in a flat towing accident. The guy who sold it to me worked in the machine shop at the United Air Lines piston engine overhaul shop. As did I. He was leaving to go to work for Boeing building the new 727 aircraft. It wasn't worth while for him to tow the car up to Renton. So he took the engine and just bought another car in Washington when he got there. Way different time.

  27. This is a better look at the Corvette Exhaust, and the Sharp intake were on the same 235.

    The 235 was no good.

This is an early 1954 Corvette-

  28. All parts in this build are used vintage, N.O.S. or things I can build!

Nothing newer than 1962 (That are visible)

Lots of help from mom, dad, and friends.

  29. good luck!
