I was intrigued by this pic , from post 100546, of all the cars with their hoods open. Google search says this. " Scene on Wacker Drive in Chicago during a heat wave on June 19, 1953. The line of cars on the left are stalled by over heating and vapor lock"

Nope. It's Rip Tragle and Ramblin' Jack. NYC, McDougal St. 1966.

  11. Hi guys, this is my first post on this forum. I enjoy all these vintage photo's a lot. I am not from that era, the 1940s and so on, but from the 90s, and also not from America, but from Holland. I really like America in the 1920s till 1970s, especially the cars. And sorry for my bad English.

Here are a few vintage photos of the Netherlands.

Crisbcritter or anyone who might know, where were these pictures taken. The bottom one and most likely the top one were obviously taken at a B.O.P. Assembly plant. I am writing a magazine article about the Doraville General Motors Assembly Plant which started out in '47 as the Buick-Oldsmobile-Pontiac Division Assembly Plant. The building with loading docks looks very similar to the existing one at the Doraville plant but I am sure some of the other plants had the same type building design. Even the number of truck loading bays correspond. Another thing I see is the railroad to the left which could be the The Yard ie the Norfolk Southern Railroad Yard. And since I-285 which now runs only a few hundred yard from the front of the building wasn't built until the late 60's, it could now be running where some of the Buicks are parked in the picture. Anybody know for sure where this is?

    Hi MrEarl,
Those two shots were from the opening of the Arlington, Texas B-O-P assembly plant; the Olds was the first car off the line. It won't help your article, but if you like I'll try to find the archive I pulled them from and pass on the link.

  15. I wud like to read your article when it's published as my '63 Catalina 2dr sedan was built at the Doraville plant. Please let us know where we can find it once it is published.

On a lighter note, do they often call you Speedo?:D The Cadillacs - 1955

11011840_10202940191824315_8709803166978527628_n.jpg Found this on another thread. Not sure where the L.R.W is going.

  20. Great pix, Dave, all 118 of 'em. You mite wanna think about getting them put on DVD to preserve them further. That '60 Poncho was an awesome way to get to the Nationals. Some of the sayings on the rear of the cars were interesting: Born to raise...Hell, The Livin' End, and FUJIMO, although it was on the side and not the rear as expected.

Not an old photo, but fun, nonetheless.
