  1. Hmmm, that's funny.

My brand of choice does just what I tell it to, and when I tell it to.

    :p

She's far from finished, but we're gonna crank up production and knock off the last of the structural stuff this week Jeff.

Then it's just a bit of wiring, and engine assembly.:)

    Thanks James,
I think I'm pretty close to being all sorted out for carb stuff.Ive got a pair of modded 660's that were on a combo very similar to mine, and I have a pair of 6209(?) 750 cfm carbs that Ric swears are the standard by which all tunnel ram carbs should be judged.I know they seem big,but the design seems a lot more "low speed/street" friendly than the 660's would, even with the throttle cam mods, idle feed restrictions, etc.

I'm going to have to try them both.

Thanks for the offer though.Youre a good Dude James. You've been a big help to me and others on this thread.
    You're a solid guy,Brother.

  11. I've never run the 660 center shooters, heard they were good carbs but for drags only as they richened up in midrange...I dunno...seems I read that somewhere...

Yeah, they had a pretty race-oriented setup out of the box,but a lot of guys would lean the super-rich idle circuit down to more normal levels by installing short sections of .018"-.020" wire into the idle feed channels to get them to work a little better.
Anothe big mod they did was to take a dremel tool or a file to the throttle cams, and open them up in such a way that the secondary opening point was delayed.
Paul Blevins had them working pretty good, and he did this mod just to make the XR a hole bunch more friendly to drive through the pits,so I'm going to see how it works out on the street, too:)

I'm pretty sure that in the end,the 6209 is a superior carb, exactly as Ric said.
The stubborn part of me just hates to give up on anything,so I just have to try the 660's and a/b them against the 750's.:)

  16. 6109's Specifically built by Holley, as Tunnel Ram carbs with specific metering, with progressive mechanical secondaries, along with double accelerator pumps to greatly improve drivability over the old center squirters. The center squirters are a bit lame, in that the accelerator pump is squirting down the secondaries, way before the secondary throttle blades are ever open!

  17. The 660's will drive like Ass
The 750's will drive like Best
There your A/B test ya stubborn mule!

Ha ain't no way I'll be in Alaska it's too damn cold up there lmao But seriously I have been driving it everyday for a month plus been to a couple car shows that were over 300 miles away beauty part is the quickchange I can blast down the highway at 80 with the ol 3:15 gears or bang on it at the dragstrip with 4:30 gears all in a matter of 5 min it's awesome

I'll keep an eye out for a package

You better have the shaker tuned real good sounds like you have a full card of runs I think I'm gonna be handing out stickers for every one to put on their trunk or tailgate so you know which way to go after the run mine says. " this way Scott " lmao
